Oh, you poor *******! My advice to you is to make sure that you get an internship or law clerk position with some law firm by no later than your second year. The damn law schools are still churning out lawyers and some of them never make it. Figure out what area of law you want to practice. Make sure that it doesn't require being hired by a big firm unless you are going to be top 10%.
I did a judicial clerkship at the Court of Appeals after school, but I doubt it really helped my career. One of the most successful members of my class was a dude who was in the bottom 10%. We all thought he was a dummy, and he flunked the bar the first time, but he had an inside track to a local immigration law firm and he did quite a bit better than many students who were brighter and had better grades than him. Being successful in a retail law practice depends on your marketing skills more than your legal skills, sorry to say.
