Ok I will stop being so sarcastic, I forget that my sarcastic nature has likely been long forgotten around these parts. Just know that I love you all.
I NO LONGER support Rahim Moore.
I understand what you were saying.
That was hilarious. I don't think that #21 for the Broncos who keeps missing Charles in this video is Aqib Talib! And whoever #20 was, he's not on the roster any more! He blew a few tackles too. So did #57.
The take away that I have from watching that video is "this dude really is patient. He sets up his blocks perfectly, then explodes through the hole and then turns on the jets and is just gone." Defenders trying to take an angle on him in the open field have very little chance once he breaks loose.
He doesn't have to carry the ball 20 times a game to be a beast for the Broncos. A few screen passes, a toss play when he sneaks out into the open. Just having him on the field is going to put the fear into the hearts of DCs we play.
They are going to have to account for him. Plus, what this video does not show:
1. Guy just straight up JACKS LBs coming on a blitz. He doesn't act like a speed bump like most RBs. He attacks blitzers and plants them hard. He's a complete back.
2. I remember having the FEAR everytime we would play KC that he would just go wild and destroy the game. And it would often happen, as you can see from this video, plenty of the highlights are against Denver - back when they had the Blue uniforms.
Can he still do that? Yes, but less often. They can't make him the work-horse RB, his knees won't hold up to a season of pounding like that. But, a situational RB, a 3rd down terror? A guy who can catch passes over the middle, can create mismatches? Oh, yes.
4. He's actually better than almost anybody the Broncos could have drafted. Compared to a raw rookie who needs to learn how to play in the NFL? Child please! Jamaal was master of Andy Reid's system, which is quite complicated. He won't have any trouble picking up the offense. And he'll be ready to go week 1. No learning curve. I'd say his impact will be greater this year than any RB in the draft outside of Leonard Fournette, or Christian McCaffrey.
Blocker, to help in protection schemes? Check.
3rd down specialist who will create mismatches with LBs in space? Check.
Intimidating Runner who will draw defenders into the box to defend the run, allowing the underneath routes to open? Check.
I can understand why KC felt they paid him too much the last 2 seasons for his production. The Broncos felt the same way about Ryan Clady.
But, Clady played LT at 320 lbs. Jamaal is 5'11", 197. It's a LOT easier for your knees to hold up when you are light and don't play every down.
The Broncos will use him in situations and let CJ start. If they do that wisely, there's a great chance he will last the season, and be a HUGE contributor. He's a better all-purpose weapon than anybody the Broncos could have possibly drafted outside of Christian McCaffrey - and they could never have gotten him since he went at #8.
I think this is proof positive that NFL GMs are a herd of frightened geese. Why didn't anybody sign this guy 2 months ago? They are afraid of looking bad in taking a chance on a guy who has had serious knee injuries the last 2 seasons.
But, you have a medical staff to evaluate these things, no? Broncos staff checked out his knee, pronounced him good to go.
And from his statements the dude is on a mission. He wants to punish the Chiefs for dumping him. And he will.
