Team captain, team leader, heart of the defense, high production, and a chip on his shoulder. He reported ran a 4.76 40 at his pro day- at 280 pounds. I think Elway sees him as an inside pass rusher on obvious passing downs. This should help make up for the loss of Malik's production on passing downs.
He's relentless, but he's slow off the ball half the time. When he launches top-fuel style, he's mad disruptive. Got a nasty inside swim move. Glad he's on the team.

Voch did a decent job of analyzing Walker in this film session.

They are not just any old guy's, kerr and peko are still good players, kerr isn't even old at all. Peko is not that old and he might be on his last run but he's still effective.

    But walker is a stud!

Kerr isn't very good, though. Can't you be young and still be a stopgap? Or am I misusing the term?

I thought stop gap was an older veteran who doesn't have much years left that you can play and be very solid until a younger guy behind him twkes over.

Default Newest Broncos pass rusher Walker’s No. 1 target: Tom Brady

The latest addition to the vaunted Denver pass rush surely knows the way to the hearts of those in Broncos Country.

DeMarcus Walker, the club’s second-round pick in this weekend’s NFL Draft, certainly has daunting numbers from his tenure at Florida State — 27 sacks, 41.5 tackles for loss, 7 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, and an interception.

His 2016 sacks total (16) ranks seventh all-time for a single season, just behind his new teammate Von Miller (17 in 2009).

“… We just looked at DeMarcus’ production: 25 sacks the last two years, the energy that he plays the game and the hustle that he plays with the game. I think he had 44 tackles for losses,” Broncos general manager John Elway said.

“He can play inside, he can play outside and so you just never have enough good pass rushers.”

But it might not necessarily be that Walker can get to the quarterback, and often, but who he said he wants to take down the most: Tom Brady.

Talking with 104.3 The Fan on Friday night after being taken No. 51 in the draft, Walker said the New England Patriots quarterback was the one passer among all NFL players he wanted to rock the most.

Especially because, to him, it seems Denver’s the only team that seems to rattle the five-time Super Bowl champion.

“… My favorite example is when the Denver Broncos rattled him in 2015, so I want to do it again,” Walker said.

Walker is slow off the ball? I'd beg to differ, his quickness when the ball is snapped is what gives him the edgeIf when it comes to blowing up a run play or getting him some qb lunch. Dude's going to be a headache cor interior linemen.

Beg all you want, he is slow off the ball too often. You want to see that Von Miller type top fuel dragster explosion off the line...he has it sometimes but other times he's not fast twitch enough.

I think his best bet is to do what Malik did and bulk up to 290. His athleticism will be best utilized between the tackles. He's just not an edge guy like Miller or Ray, but that's ok, that's not what we need him to be.
