Default Panthers' Christian McCaffrey indeed has Luke Kuechly's 'kind of DNA'

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- If you closed your eyes on Friday and imagined it was the day after the first round of the 2012 draft, you might have mistaken Christian McCaffrey for Luke Kuechly as the running back addressed reporters for the first time at Bank of America Stadium.

From the moment he asked in an almost golly-gee kind of way how everyone in the room was doing to the number of times he said how special it was to be drafted by the Carolina Panthers, McCaffrey had Kuechly written all over him.

It shouldn’t have come as a surprise.

The thing about McCaffrey that stood out in the pre-draft process for Carolina coach Ron Rivera was when new wide receivers coach Lance Taylor, McCaffrey’s position coach at Stanford the past three years, told him the 5-foot-11, 202-pound back had "Luke’s kind of DNA."

"He's one of those guys who is all about football," Rivera said.

That showed big time as McCaffrey, the eighth overall pick of Thursday night’s first round, spoke.

Heard McCaffrey in practice put a move on a kid that 'tore his soul from his body.'

Still just relieved he didn't end up a Cheatriot somehow.

Not true. Turns out that kid was a ginger so he didn't have a soul to begin with.

    Have we drafted him yet?
“Absolutely, I can help, not just protection-wise but in the run game. That’s something that I take a lot of pride in,” Green said. “It’s something I feed of off. I love to hit. I’m smiling right now – just the thought of hitting somebody is a great feeling.”

Nah, he skipped the NFL and went straight to the HoF. He's taking a job in the booth.
