Default Fanspeak 7-rd Mock 1 week Before Draft (composite big board)

Here's a representative mock draft done on the Fanspeak site using the "composite big board" (advantage, neutralizes personal biases and ranks on consensus). This was done a week before the real NFL draft.

In the first round, Christian McCaffrey was long gone (8th to Carolina) and two of the top 3 offensive tackles were taken before the Broncos were on the clock . Normally, I would *love* to take a guy like Mike Williams or Jabrill Peppers but the Broncos have painted themselves into a corner where they *have* to get the best LT prospect on the board (unless they've traded for one which I can't predict). Therefore, the selection was regrettable but easy:

    20: R1P20
    OT GARETT BOLLES
    UTAH

There were also some nice trade-down offers but, again, couldn't risk losing the only Big 3 OT left available. In Round Two, I could have gone a few different ways but settled on a deep threat at the TE position to open up the middle of the field:

    51: R2P19
    TE EVAN ENGRAM
    MISSISSIPPI

Round 3 sets the tone for what you plan to do the rest of the draft. I consider it a higher priority than most to get some insurance for C.J. Anderson. Booker isn't an all-day back and Justin Forsett may or may not be good at this age, better as a backup than the workhorse. So, I took the third-round back I think was overshadowed by the Joe Mixon drama:

    82: R3P18
    RB SAMAJE PERINE
    OKLAHOMA

That 4.6 40-time at the combine is a bit distressing as well as some mild injury history but he plays well in space, has good hands and delivers blows with authority. The supplemental third addresses the defense for the first time. With Demarcus Ware's retirement, It's time to get another Demarcus to support the edge:

    101: R3P37
    EDGE DEMARCUS WALKER
    FLORIDA STATE

The offensive line gets additional help in the fourth with somebody who can play any interior position and gives backup support at the center spot for Paradis:

    126: R4P19
    C ETHAN POCIC
    LSU

Another opportunity to cut some of the guys who haven't worked out the past two years on the offensive line that must protect Semian/Lynch better than last year. I was hoping this next guy would last until the 5th round for me but I suspect he'll be gone after four rounds in real life:

    159: R5P15
    WR DEDE WESTBROOK
    OKLAHOMA

He's similar to Emanuel Sanders and will be an instant hit in three-WR sets. Has the deep speed to break it long with good body control for underneath sideline routes. Inside linebackers are best found on the last day and 2017 is no different:

    203: R6P19
    LB BEN GEDEON
    MICHIGAN

Gedeon is a sturdy guy at the heart of Michigan's stout defense from last year. Should be a plug-and-play guy on early downs.

    252: R7P34
    DL JOSH TUPOU
    COLORADO

Finally, a guy for Peko to take under his wing who also is already altitude-conditioned.

Overall, not a dream draft or one that has a lot of my faves but this is one I'd be happy with if it fell that way because needs are addressed in roughly the order of priority that I have them listed. Guys like Engram and Pocic were literally the best player on the board whn our turn came. While I am not against doing trades, the only one that I did was my standard fifth-and-two-sevenths to Baltimore for a better fifth round choice. If doing so got me Westbrook, I'd say it was a smooth deal.

    Thoughts? Arguments? Death threats?
I miss the old Mile High Stadium.

I still dont like engram as a TE. I see him as a small TE or a blocking WR at 6-3

Engrams is smaller than DT and B-marsh, I'd say make him a WR but he's already behind the 8 ball coming from that system. The Vikings rookie 1st rounder had 2 catches for 14 yards last season coming from that system.

Apparently teams needing T's are trying to jump in front of Denver, Seattle wants Bolles.
