    Default Recycling Obsolete Electronics

I was told years ago that there are places that you can take obsolete computers, and other electronics, in which you'd get paid a little bit so recycle the materials that its made from. I found a electronics recycling place near me on Google, but they said that they'll just take it from me free of charge because I'm a resident of Phoenix. If I wasn't they'd charge me a $20 disposal fee.

Are there any places today that would pay to take my old VCR, boombox, clock/radio/CD player, etc, or so I just give it up and give it to those who will take it off my hands for free? Yes, I know I could just throw it in the dumpster, but I'm a moderate environmentalist.

Goodwill has a monitor and electronics recycling program, check it out.

No one is going to pay you for that old garbage. Take it, drop it off and end it.

You can use DBan (FREE utility with Government level disk wiping), but it takes a long time. Quite honestly the best way is to take the hard drive out and drill some holes through the platters.

This, or a very hot fire would be the best if you had access and a ton of time.

My brother took me to 1 of these places, over 20 years ago. It was over by ASU which is on the wrong side of the valley from where I live.

You can be 'redneck' and take your devices on isolated dirt roads and use them as target practice.

Yeah that was a long time ago and the world has changed, now people have to pay to recycle and save the planet.
