Then maybe we should equip all prison cells with a rope tied to the ceiling. I mean, if one week in the County is enough to make Shane sympathetic about offing himself, maybe we should just make it available to everyone stuck in jail. We could even add a financial incentive by sending the money the killer saved the government in court costs to any surviving children. Would that make it right?
I miss the old Mile High Stadium.

Valid point. Like it or not, the Constitution probation of cruel and unusual punishment means that we are required to protect inmate. Not just from the guards, but from themselves and each other.

I am trying not to laugh at how you take my words and go straight to the extreme with them. First, it was that i was sympathic to terrorism, now its that i was gunna off myself after a week. I didnt say i was gunna off myself or even thought of it, all i said is i knew after a week i would never want to spend the rest of my life in that type of environment. Mainly because the justice system is just an assembly line for people society has judged and decided to treat less then human. Its easy to see why someone would not want to be treated like an animal the rest of his life, even though you may claim he "deserves it" based on what crime said person has committed. Well if he "deserves it" then you may see why an individual would rebel against that notion and decide to go out on their own terms. Especially someone serving a life sentence, or even 60+ years.

    Tone it down.

We could even take it to a larger level if you want. As are we the only species on the planet that commits suicide when faced with stress or containment?

Another famous example of animal suicide is the case of the dolphin which most often portrayed Flipper, on the 1960s television show Flipper. According to trainer Richard O' Barry in the film The Cove, Kathy, the dolphin, drowned itself before him.[7] Suicidal behavior has been observed more in female animals than male and in more vertebrates than invertebrates.[8]

Animal suicide was long used to define human suicide; in the 1800s animal suicide was seen as an act of abuse, madness, love, or loyalty, the same acts human suicide was seen as.[2] Although it is impossible to determine what drives animals to self-destruction, some specific traits associated with human suicide can be successfully transferred to animals.[9] Scientists have been unable to explain whether animals are able to consciously end their own lives.[8]

No point - everyone knows it's an ineffective and unreliable means of punishment that is only defensible with ideological argumentation. The unwashed yokels support it. The real humans don't.

What about those who believe in self-capital punishment?

I believe they've probably ended their own lives and thus have no beliefs.

With DNA testing I think it's getting better.
