Default Broncos to interview McCaffery at Combine

The first step toward keeping the McCaffrey bloodline in Denver will occur Thursday.New Broncos head coach Vance Joseph revealed that the team is set to interview Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

"This kid's a really good football player. You watch this kid and he's pro's pro," Joseph said.

While Denver doesn't have an overwhelming need at the position, McCaffrey's talent could be too good to pass up. The son of former Broncos receiver Ed McCaffrey amassed 2,327 all-purpose yards in 2016, establishing himself among the nation's top players.

A moveable chess piece, McCaffrey can line up all over the formation -- in the backfield, the slot, or out wide. He possesses a solid build (6-foot, 200 pounds), elite athleticism, and excellent vision. He's expected to run the much-discussed forty-yard dash in 4.5 seconds or better.

He's not a quarterback, who cares?

1/2 his 6 cone time and only 1/4 his 12 cone time! It's pretty special.

It would take the 20th pick to get him. He won't be there in the 2nd. He would fill the running back, h back, and returner roles. I'd love to see how McCoy would use him, but I don't think he would be the best player on the board at 20.

Thank you all for reminding me that I just bought ice cream yesterday. The great thing about being a bachelor, I don't need cones, or even bowls, I can just eat it straight from the container

If we pulled the move back to the end of the first round and had extra seconds and third rounders than it's a hard yes and an easy call.

If it takes a first rounder then this is a hard pass and an easy call.

The more I think about it the more I am wanting McCaffery on our team. I believe he is worth a 1st round draft pick. But for me it comes down to pedigree. His dad was a total badass and a legend. But, I think Christian is going to be a stud in the NFL. He has all the talent in the world and I believe Elway is going to get him on this team.

No need to trade up or down. Just stay where we are and draft the guy.

Absolutely. Seems the safest pick if he's there and all the exceptional, top10 type talent is gone. High floor. He can make a huge impact as a 40%-60% offensive snap guy during his first year. Some upside if he develops chemistry with our 2017 QB, could make for interesting personnel groupings. I like it.

    And he returns kicks.
