Yeah, you don't expect a dude to snap like that, but racial slurs and spitting would support a provocation defense.

I've been watching some film on this guy. He has one helluva right hook but I also think the tape is misleading. You have to consider the competition he was going against.

Sounds like you are saying name calling and saliva justifies assault.

I just can't recognise that logic.

    I'm saying it's a criminal law defense.

Provocation, if proven, can mitigate some, completely, or not at all. It doesn't have to be a complete defense resulting in acquittal.

These are things a jury decides after hearing the gory details of what went down.

What he did was despicable. He has gone through the legal system and fulfilled any requirements/obligations stemming from that conviction.

He has more than earned a second shot at redemption IMO.

I think it is excessive. He could have pushed her away and yelled or something.

i honestly dont care too much about the incident.

I can forgive, everyone makes mistakes as a young adult. I just dont think he is that great of a player. Scares me more then the incident.

Heres the problem - an incident of that level, is not an incident - it is part of a pattern. That is what concerns me. I think he is probably a really troubled young man, and we have only seen one horrific incident, but i bet there have been many more similar.

There is very little i profess to be an expert on, but domestic violence is one of these things, and the "one off" incident, is the outlier, not the norm. So whilst i acknowledge it is possible that this was a one off, and just a mistake made by a young man - everything from my professional and accademic life tells me otherwise.

I really hope we avoid him in the draft.
