I love Yellowstone. There is no wrong way to do it - and there is so much to see that even if you planned nothing you can wander around and take it as it comes. I can't wait to go back.
I particularly loved the Upper Falls. I recommend taking as many of those pullouts/impromptu hikes as possible.
We stayed in Big Sky when we went as opposed to in the park, so would be interested to hear about your experience staying in the park.
To be fair we were there in the summer for some NEA (national education association, my folks were teachers) thing. I was 12 and 13. The resort had an arcade and a pool. Saw my first pair of tits. She was from Michigan.
Also, my brother was married at soldiers chapel, which is at the bottom of the mountian.
