Anything can be preserved under the right circumstances and control. If that burger and fries was exposed to moisture or had a bite taken out of it when it was new it would definitely grow mold and decompose. If you want proof that McDonalds is bad for you just look at the people that eat there frequently. You can usually see them on scooters at Wal-Mart. There are plenty of foods that are just not prone to decay or decomposition, the main element that triggers this is moisture. Honey is the prime example of a real "eternal food". There have been instances of edible honey dating back thousands of years found in Egypt: http://www.smithsonianmag.com/scienc...-life-1218690/

I was semi interested in taking my biennial trip to McD to try the Grand Mac, but after reading this, nah.

    To clarify:

The burger did not have cheese on it. What didn't decompose was the meat patty and the bun.

On the other hand, if you put a piece of bread my wife had baked in the same bix it would likely grow mold within a few weeks.

Yeah I can believe that, but it is not so much that is so full of preservatives (it is) that makes it unhealthy it is that fast food burgers and fries are just bad for you period. I have no doubts that the thing isn't decomposing, I was just pointing out that there are natural foods (like honey) that will never go bad regardless of how healthy or not for you. It is a bad measure of nutrition and more of a testament to modern preservatives. I had a fast food french fry fall under my car seat as well and after a bad winter it got some moisture. By March my car stunk to high hell from one little fry and that thing was all black mold when I pulled it out. I could have cured or caused some STDs with that thing.

Are you sure organic honey never spoils? I'll have to do some research. Most of the stuff at the grocery store is loaded with corn syrup

I'm not sure you should be eating your wife's bread.

Lol, she'd kill me if I didn't. Not only does she bake the bread, but she mills the wheat flour she uses
