My salute to Joe is mostly for the Simon and Garfunkel and John Denver picks.

I dont care who you are its pretty cool that at least 3 people have "Purple Rain" as one of their favorites. And i believe the age difference between the 3 individuals is like 20 years apart or close to it. lol Thats pretty wild.

I was thinking it's probably been like 7 years since I last bought an album (and by album - I mean a complete collection of songs released as an album on iTunes). It's been 10+ years since I stopped buying CDs, which was really the last time I used to get excited about albums, when record art mattered and it was cool to see the lyrics on the CD sleeve.

    60's? Really?

I still act like I'm in my 30's. Wife is 12 years younger than me too.

PS - I thought you were way younger.

I reluctantly got into vinyl for this reason. I am slowly getting my favorite albums on vinyl (just got Mellon Collie for christmas!) and I inherited my dad's old collection from storage. It really is nice because you are forced to listen to the whole album and it gives you a new appreciation for something you may have heard a dozen or more times. Whereas on my phone I just randomly grab a 1000 songs from my playlists and hit shuffle and end up skipping 80% of them. The other cool thing is that nearly every record comes with a download code so you get a nice high-fidelity recording of the music on vinyl but you can also add it the the endless abyss of your MP3 player.

And nothing beats the album art and special books that come with the new releases. This is the mess I made while listening to Mellon Collie today on my telework day:

The day Rolling Stones only gave it 3 stars is the day I stopped caring what they thought. Unless something changes, you will not see an experimental double rock album achieve that kind of success ever again. That damn album produced the soundtrack to my teen years and ranges in sound from prog-rock walls of sound to heavy metal to soft ballads. I love the whole Victorian era theme of the whole thing, too.

While i dont think MC is quite as good as the first two i would never give it just 3 stars. Thats retarded.
