Default Metal Tavern Radio/Blog now has a forum

    http://metal-tavern.proboards.com/

So yea, currently a friend of mine and myself are working on a forum that will be an extension of my blog and radio station. Probably a long time coming as i kind of needed one anyway but this was a result of another forum that we were a part of for over 10 years getting ready to shut down due to high costs for the owner. But since most of us who were a part of that forum have known each other for so long and discovering new music is far and in between when it comes to us personally my friend and i decided that this new forum would be used more for "informational" purposes even though discussion is still encouraged. We will create certain forums that focus on the separate genres and partake in giving the best information possible about each band. While i do want members who join the board to contribute with their own knowledge of bands there is a certain format that should be followed in that particular part of the forum. Its not a necessity for people to contribute but the more the better really.

Either way, for you metal/rock fans or music fans in general (we do have a thread dedicated to other styles of music) if you would like to join either just to read or participate you are welcome to. While the forum is not officially online (as far as announcing it) people can still join and take a gander at it. We will probably announce the official release of this forum after the new year or middle of January. Im currently trying to get Shake to create a banner for us but he has been MIA lately so im not sure when he can or if he will do it yet. Hope to see some people from here join in at the very least to give me some opinions on what they think of it so far. Any opinions or criticisms would be appreciated.

    For those who might be interested, update on my radio station;

So some exciting news in the world of MTRadio. I have moved to a new host as i ran into some problems with the last one. But, it was sort of a blessing in disguise as i was able to get a cheaper plan that offered a whole lot more.

So one of the perks is the amount of listeners that can tune in. The last plan strapped me at only 20 possible listeners, the new one allows up to 1,000 listeners.

So, i dont care if you are bored or dont normally listen but do me a favor and at least try to connect with the radio just so i can see if it can handle the connections. It should be no problem but i would rather nip it in a bud if there are some problems.

A heads up though, the actual player from Radio Forest on my blog has not yet been updated since it has to be done on their end so you can use the other tune in options like winamp, wmp, real player, etc. Or you can go to Shoutcast itself and tune in there. Doesnt matter when you try it just so as long as i can get a good sample of connections.

The other exciting perk is how much music i can upload to the autoDJ. Initially i was strapped to using 3 days a week to go off my external because it holds more music. But now i have enough to transfer the 15,000 songs on that to the autoDj itself. So, as a listener you will get far more variety thoughout the week, weekend, and overnight.

And because of that i am also able to move the schedule around a bit and no overcrowd certain days. Some things have remained but i did move some spotlight segments around so that it didnt feel so congested.

Anyway, im only up to the C's with the transfer of the general rotation music so its a work in progress but there are already 1,000 or so songs that are in there as well as the new music i added this week that gets spotlighted.

Thanks for all the support folks and hope you enjoy the new version of MTR.

    Sincerely,
    James (Dj Anubis)

Congrats on your program. I don't think we're fans of the same kind of music, but I'll try to connect to show you some support.

Im proud to announce that there is a song request option now for MTR. If you go to the "Pages" tab underneath the "Last Tracks Played" on the right side of my blog you will see a link to the song request page/form.

Once there, just enter the band/song as well as your email address. The other info is optional. If for some reason your song is not in the list it will alert me and give me some input on songs i can add to the station.
Requests have about a 10 minute delay when applied during the general rotation of music.

    *Important Note*
-If you request a song while a specific playlist is being played (spotlight shows/spotlight segments) than please be aware your song will not be played until that segment or show is over with. So if you are not wanting to wait around make sure to check the schedule to make sure a specific segment is not being aired.

-This also applies to new music added (roughly 15-20 songs) that is mixed in with the general rotation.

The good news is there is roughly 20,000 songs currently on the autoDj so chances are if you have something in mind it will probably be up there. But again if not, it will let me know so that i can add those files at a later date since it will help me gauge what people like or are interested in hearing.

I love Fleetwood. I may consider adding some to my Classic Rock Segment on Sundays but have been too lazy to do so at the moment. You would probably enjoy that segment as its 3 hours of stuff like Zeppelin, Blue Oyster Cult, Pink FLoyd, etc.
