Denver Native born just early enough to not remember the bad times (1978 just after the Orange Crush) and my whole childhood was Elway leading us to and subsequently getting destroyed in the Super Bowl. Like Davii, football was something my dad and I could always talk about and it was it was the only time we really spent together in front of a TV just screaming and having fun. My dad was pretty strict otherwise, but football really softened his edge and he would let me cuss casually during games which was a huge bonus.

So a passing interest in football allowed me to connect with my dad, but when I was about 12-13 I realized I was just watching games on my own because I liked it. I would watch any football game and looked forward to Monday Night Football. I got really concerned when it looked like Elway was on his way out in the early-mid 90's and football became more of a passion. Then 32 and 33 happened and just solidified my rabid fandom. Next thing I know I am talking non-stop on a Broncos Message Board. Now I love everything about it. The strategy, the off field drama, all that crap.

I'm hardly an expert, but I can spot formations now and actually prefer sitting high up at the actual games to see how plays develop. Its just a fun hobby that I can't shut up about obviously. The only big change in my Bronco fandom came a few years ago after the loss to Baltimore in the playoffs. That game was almost worse than the Jags loss to me and it affected me emotionally for like a week. I decided shortly after that to not take it too seriously and now I enjoy it even more. Plus my dog hasn't been kicked in a while, so she likes it too. (I kid! I kid!)

I know ive stated how i became a fan before but ill state it again as it was really an odd reason for becoming one but at the time made sense to me. lol

In 1978-79 (which made me about 9 years old) i started to get into NFL football. I basically latched onto the team that was the most popular and what i felt was cool at the time and that was the Dallas Cowboys. Randy White, Tony Dorsett, and Danny White were my favorites at the time for the team. So for a couple of years they were my team and even though my parents were Broncos fans i used to get annoyed by them on gameday as they would have all the relatives come over for the games and what not. So i would openly root against Denver back then and every time i did the Broncos won. So in 1982 while preparing to watch the Seattle Seahawks and Broncos play i decided to reverse my mojo to see if Denver would actually lose if i rooted for them. Well, low and behold the Seahawks won and i dont know something just told me that this was some kind of weird fate. You would think that rooting for your team to win and having them win would be the way you become a fan but not so with this guy here. Anyhow, a year later the Broncos draft John Elway and my idolization of him and Broncos remained true to this day. I have yet to see the Broncos in Denver but have managed to see them 4 times in Baltimore (sadly our record is like 1-3 in those games that ive seen) which is still fun and great to represent while in Bmore.

I'm from Iowa so I was not indoctrinated. My sperm donor gave me some Minnesota Vikings pajamas as a Christmas present when I was in 9th grade, but I had an accident in them. I was in CO between on summer and knew that I needed to pick a team or my social growth would be stunted. I liked CO, it made me feel good so I decided on the Denver Broncos. I sit here as a 50 year old man and little did I know at the time, it was God that made the decision that I be a bronco fan because He loves me so much

I was nine years old in 1960. I had heard about the new upstart AFL, my grandmother let me listen to the game with the Boston Patriots and I was hooked. Been a fan since the first game. Living and growing up in New Mexico I remember thinking (in a 9 year old's head) wow, finally a western team to root for (I guess the west coast doesn't count . I was thrilled in '69 (the year i graduated High School) when an AFL team won the Super Bowl.

I guess I have just been a fan from the beginning ... who knew?

Got to be one of the best sports decisions ever!

I was born at Ft Carson, but that's not really why. I lived in Germany (military brat) during the 77 season which was really the first year I followed football. The Broncos made it all the way to the Super Bowl and EVERYONE around me was rooting for the Cowboys so, being the contrarian that I am, I said I'm going for the other guys. Even though they lost I've been hooked ever since.

*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.
