I wouldn't have paid more money for it, but since it was the same price for basically the same TV without the curve, why not.

Thread review:
Joe asks for instant advice about what to do about cheap t.v. Clock is ticking, must make decision that day.
Virtually everyone tells him to go with the flat screen.
Joe doesn't post in thread for two days.
Joe ignored advice and went with the curved tv.
Conclusion: Joe just wanted an excuse to brag about his new 4k curved-screen television.
Like I was going to listen to you idiots anyway!
Plus, only one person told me (before the delivery) to avoid the curve because they're more expensive, and also said to go with a Sony - after I already said the deal was on a Samsung (and the cost was the same). So, naturally, I dismissed that awful advise.
Additionally, NTL, the wife preferred the curve. What's a man to do?
I will be more calculated in the future if Joe asks for advice. ⚔️
To be honest, I read a bunch of reviews on the web which were all inconclusive. The basic story was don't pay more, because it isn't necessarily "better". I wasn't paying more. I have thought that the curve was kind of a gimmick as well and after reading several articles about it, wanted to check in here to see what the opinion was, since I kind of respect opinions of people posting on the board (with some exceptions, of course!).
Anyway, it would have been a pain to reschedule the delivery, and I had already disconnected my other TV with the delivery coming within a couple of hours. I wanted to watch the Buffs game, and we had a dinner to go to on Saturday night, along with making sure to have everything set up for the Broncos on Sunday. So, that was part of my problem. Once I verified the price was the same, I figured I might as well just keep it. It was an additional $500 savings.
