I know a lot about being a general contractor, dealing with insurance adjusters, and about design.

I'd be happy to help in any way I can.

Appreciate that. Would a 14 x14 ft room be sufficient for a shop you think? Probably a little tight huh?

Probably tight, but you'll be starting small anyway.

This may be too "adult" , but that is more than enough for Shopsmith equipment (and why I suggested it, as most peeps start with little room)

Here is a Youtube video that could be enlightening if you stay awake through the whole thing

I dabble a little. Shopsmith is badass, too expensive for me especially considering I already have many of the tools a shopsmith is used for. A sliding compound miter saw is also a must have IMHO. I freaking love mine and its just a cheap Craftsman from Sears. Craftsman may not be an upper echelon brand like Powermatic or even Grizzly but they are reliable, come with very good warranties and are great for someone doing DIY stuff or hobbyists.

I think my favorite is my router and router table. A router is an amazingly versatile tool but can also be intimidating at first so use feather boards and a good table.

Craftsman has a lot. I was at sears on Saturday. I'm a cheap basted as I don't make much money so I guess I will be pricing some items and comparing brands for quality etc and commensurate to the skill level I am at now, but also affording opportunity for growth. Like rigid tools vs Milwaukee vs ryobi vs Dewalt vs other.

So did you start your 14 x 14 shop?

You're gonna need a second mortgage to buy all the tools rjent suggests. I took a woodworking class at a community college when the economy took a dump and I had a ton of free time, I've always been interested in it. I made a table, it's glorious...I wish I could bring it in the house.
