Funny we'll give Siemian a break being a rookie (which he's not...), but not the punter.
I don't get it. He average 43.6 net or something like that, and the "shank" was 42 yards (net), but granted without much hang time.

    What am I missing here?

Wasn't Siemean's sack inside the 20, on the 18 or something, which means Dixon was standing on the 5 yard line or something like that when he took the snap. What exactly were you hoping for, a 60 or 70 yard punt to pin them back?

I'm struggling to see what the problem was and what the expectation was in that case.

Yes, that's precisely what I wanted. Carolina's punter jacked a 76 yarder - and an NFL punter at altitude should have that kind of a bomb in their repertoire. Obviously that's on the extreme end - but I'm with Wave that his most important punt of the night was a dud.

That punt was 42 yards. It's not like he shanked it.

    Then you had unrealistic expectation.

Correct - but it did allow Carolina to get into FG range more easily than I would have liked.

Yes, I realize it's unrealistic to expect a 75 yarder. But I don't think it's unreasonable to expect better than 42 yards in that particular situation.

1st point: our defense allowed them to get into FG range. Where the punt ended up was not in FG range. An extra 5-10 yards would have made little difference.

    2nd point: agreed.

You know, I think I'll go to the interwebz and whine about a punt that netted 40 yards

It's sounds like you've been hanging out with Joel.

When you cut a veteran player for a cheap rookie, there will be rookie mistakes. On the plus side, rookies can get better. This guy is our punter for better or worse. He just needs time. Just like Booker.

It's a good thing we've got a band of heroes who is up to the task of sniffing out these whiners and then whining about them.

It's a vicious cycle. Where does it end?
