PS - to be honest, I was going to post "you're stupid" and changed it at the last minute.
This charade needs to end.
Oooh, THIS is going dangerous places; we had a QB a few years ago who liked attention-grabbing onfield celebrations—and only AFTER the play: The NFL still told him to take it to the sideline like everyone else.
I feel like refs have enough on their plates trying to keep track of what the 22 players who are SUPPOSED to be on the field do all over it each play. Asking them to constantly keep track of 96 moving targets with NO maturity or sportsmanship over 6400 sq. yds is asking WAY too much. They made exactly the right call for exactly the right reasons: Illegal substitution; mark off the yardage and replay the down.

Oh, valid point. I thought you meant all starters, you should take the time to be more descriptive, don't be shy. —Jaded

Rules should only be made or unmade for good reason, counselor: There are multiple good reasons for this rule, but none for changing it. "Cam embarrassed his team again" certainly doesn't qualify. I actually felt (slightly) worse for him when he wore those hideous zebra pants. I guess he figured if he was going to act like a clown he should look the part. In neither case can I pity an arrogant man-child paying the penalty that incurs.
