Thread: racially insensitive...

They cancelled the Ortiz bobblehead last night because they felt it was "racially insensitive".

As a Canadian who hasn't experienced racial issues regarding black people, can someone point out to me the racially insensitive part of this bobblehead? Is it the fist in the air like a black panther?

I wonder what they are going to do with all those bobbleheads?

Also, I have no idea why, but I suspect it's just another example of political correctness out of control.

I saw Shannon SHarpe tweet something about this last night.

I am at a loss. I wanted to ask what I was missing, but I'm sure it has to do with my white privilege.

The only thing I can think of is he is being portrayed as a black soul singer based on his race, but I am not a huge follower of baseball so maybe he is actually known for singing or something.

Now, that's clearly meant to commemorate Ortiz's "this is our f—ing city" speech after the Boston Marathon bombings. Perfect. The uniform checks out — they wore ones with "Boston" on the front, not "Red Sox," for that game. What could the problem be?

Guess they need to find out why the manufacturer of these put white colored lips on the bobblehead. As far as I know, no one, regardless of race, has white colored lips.
