Bobby Kennedy's assassination in 1968. I was 7. I barely remember watching the funeral procession with my parents freaking out about what was happening in the country.

And the 1st moon landing in 1969. My Dad got me up at like 3 in the morning to watch it live and I was mad at the time but I'm really glad he did.

Ha! You're older than me. I thought we were the same age.

Reagan being shot or maybe the Iran hostage crisis are the first news memories I have.

Elvis died just before my third birthday. I was a huge Elvis fan as a kid, but didn't realize he was dead until I was 5 or 6. I was heartbroken when I found out.

Damn. I never saw that. I always hoped that it ended pretty quickly for them.

For some reason the one that sticks out in my head was the little girl who got trapped in a well. Probably because I was a little 3 year old kid and it resonated with me. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jessica_McClure

I remember my Mom using this as a cautionary tale for us, mostly my younger sister. You were only three in 1986?

I remember that too now that you mention it. I didn't realize it happened before 9/11.

    How old are you now?

I remember the Reagan shooting...and I remember as a kid being scared of Godoffi, fearing he would start WW3. Those are the two earliest things I remember regarding world news.

When the Challenger disaster happened I was living in AZ and I was in an elementary school with this weird year long schedule, you'd go to school for 3 months then have a month off and repeat. So I just happened to be home from school and my mom called me, and told me to turn on channel 5 because the shuttle was just about to take off and I should watch it. She came home from work after it happened because she was afraid she had traumatized me for life.

The thing I remember about the OKC bombing that is noteworthy is that I think that was the first time I ever conceptualized the idea of a terrorist attack... I can remember asking my mom who did it - and thinking as a 10 year old that it must have been another country who did it to us, I remember asking, did Japan bomb us again? Because at that point in my life, the only bombings we'd heard of were Pearl Harbor or war related.

I vaguely remember the RFK assassination. I was 6 (technically 5 since it happened a month before my birthday).

    You're an old man.
