I read the article twice & found no mention of this anywhere. Nevertheless, if the lower property taxes are the result of lower property value caused by building a facility that will increase noise & traffic, then just about everyone who recently took out a new mortgage will be instantly upside down on their mortgage.

That's almost as bad as Kentucky's Governor cutting healthcare and education and giving tax breaks to the guy building Noah's Ark.

It's funny how often these benefits don't actually come to fruition, Slim.

What's wrong with cancelling art classes for football?

Let me be as succinct as I can:

I don't care. If that's what they want to spend their money on, good for them.

If that's your stance, then good for you.

Is it something that you would support if your community was thinking about an expensive football stadium?

I'm not a big art fan. I don't 'get it'. But there is a lot of value in the subject and area. One of the key things that separates humanity from other animals is our ability to think and create. One of greatest aspects of our thinking and creation can be found in art.

I wish schools were able to push Science and Math more so we could compete with the rest of the world.

Good. When we can fill a 12,000-seat stadium to watch a math contest, call me.
I miss the old Mile High Stadium.

School is about education, and athletics can certainly be a part of that. With that being said, mathematics is far more useful in an average person's life than football. So why would the focus be about filling seats to watch math and not just about pushing math, or on the macro level, as DD pointed out, improving our skills as a nation at math and science?
