What? What did the green river ever do to you? You monster.
They have raised about 30 million in personal doantions in the last couple days. A lot of bisinesses are going to match and the federal Gov't are matching as well so that is already 90 million. The amount of generosity and donations that I've seen is unbelievable, anything from people opening their houses, to giving people their homes and RV's or just offering anything... It's pretty awesome to see.
This is a bad fire and it's still growing too.
On May 6, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police began leading convoys to move 1,500 vehicles from oil sand work camps north of Fort McMurray, south along Highway 63 to Edmonton.
The fire continued to grow out of control, spreading to 100,000 hectares (250,000 acres) by May 6, and 156,000 hectares (390,000 acres) by May 7.
As the fire grew to the northeast, the community of Fort McKay, where over 5,000 people from Fort McMurray had evacuated to, was itself put under an evacuation notice. The fire was anticipated to double in size, and reach the Saskatchewan border to the east.

They should get one of those cargo planes with the big trap doors, send it down river, scoop up as much water as possible and dump it on the fire. Rinse, repeat. The area is just too isolated to expect local water supplies and fire teams to get the job done.
I miss the old Mile High Stadium.
Living in the UK really means I cannot comprehend anything this bad ever happening here
It really is blowing my mind.
