Default Fanspeak (4/15 Walter Football board) Mock Draft

Lynch and Cook were both available in Round 1. After the Hillman signing, I reduced the need to add a RB. There were no trades although I did not enter this mock thinking I would not trade. My early rounds just had obvious picks.

    31: R1P31
    QB PAXTON LYNCH
    MEMPHIS

    63: R2P32
    DT JONATHAN BULLARD
    FLORIDA

    94: R3P31
    G JOSHUA GARNETT
    STANFORD

    98: R3P35
    S MILES KILLEBREW
    SOUTHERN UTAH

    136: R4P38
    ILB DOMINIQUE ALEXANDER
    OKLAHOMA

    144: R5P5
    TE NICK VANNETT
    OHIO STATE

    157: R5P18
    CB CYRUS JONES
    ALABAMA

    219: R6P44
    DT ANTWAUN WOODS
    USC

    228: R7P7
    RB KEENAN REYNOLDS
    NAVY

    253: R7P32
    ILB JOSH FORREST
    KENTUCKY

Bullard is more a large DE, not a DT - perfect for a 3-4 lineman. Reynolds was a record-setting QB at Navy who could become a "slash" type player in the NFL - part RB, part WR, return kicks and emergency QB. Forrest is from the same school as Trevathan and been viewed similarly. Woods is your true fireplug NT type.
I miss the old Mile High Stadium.

I'd take this draft in a heartbeat!

There are a few guys there who are not likely to fall that far, namely Lynch and Varnett.

I agree with you that some may get taken sooner but, they're there in the mock so I can't ignore them. Besides, people fall during the draft and we can't foresee which ones.

I donto know how that works. I assumed it was just some mock draft you saw on the interwebs.

It is on the web but its almost like a live fantasy draft (if you have ever played). You select the team you are drafting for and the computer automatically drafts for the other teams while at times giving you the option to make trades while accepting or declining them, etc. Obviously its just done by random as you can run the mock as many times as you want and it will never come out the same because the players are not always drafted the same through the auto. But as Orange pointed out he probably started his draft and some players who realistically wont fall did in his particular mock that he ran.

Thanks, North. It definitely has its flaws but IMO, Fanspeak is a more realistic exercise than just pulling names out of your ass that you'd like to be there in your moment to draft and then try to impress your friends with how great you are about drafting guys who were taken a round earlier than you projected. There will be guys I target that are gone by the time my selection comes up and I have to account for other alternates like a real draft works.

Fanspeak updates their big boards every Tuesday. I used the Fanspeak board to draft for another team but I always check to see who they drafted for the Broncos.

Here's the most recent draft (which was their computer drafting for Denver and not myself):

    31: R1P31
    OT GERMAIN IFEDI
    TEXAS A&M

    63: R2P32
    QB CONNOR COOK
    MICHIGAN STATE

    94: R3P31
    G SEBASTIAN TRETOLA
    ARKANSAS

    98: R3P35
    RB ALEX COLLINS
    ARKANSAS

    136: R4P38
    ILB JARED NORRIS
    UTAH

    144: R5P5
    OLB JAYLON SMITH
    NOTRE DAME

    157: R5P18
    DT ADAM GOTSIS
    GEORGIA TECH

    219: R6P44
    TE BEN BRAUNECKER
    HARVARD

    228: R7P7
    WR BYRON MARSHALL
    OREGON

    253: R7P32
    S KEVIN BYARD
    MIDDLE TENNESSEE

This is an outstanding draft (if a bit unrealistic) and the selection of Jaylon Smith is interesting. He's a first-round talent who blow out two ligaments early in the season and will need to sit out all of 2016 to continue his rehab. The computer always picks Braunecker for the Broncos and Byard was recently tabbed as one of the non-combine invitees who wowed scouts on his Pro Day to become a potential draftee. Could Cook really slide to our spot in the second? I have a hard time buying that.

Cook might fall that far....who knows what will happen with Smith. There are reports he has nerve damage in his knee and the muscles in his foot are not responding. He might be done with football altogether.

That's why taking him is a huge gamble but could also have a huge reward.

That Fanspeak computer draft would be quite outstanding, really. I'm hoping for a few of those same players. And with all the picks we have, if Jaylon Smith is there on day three you take him and figure out if he'll play again later. He's just a stash this year anyway, and we'll have trouble fitting all these draftpicks onto our roster as it is.

Maybe he never plays again, maybe he becomes an All-Pro. No way to know right now. Don't spend too much draft capital on him, but definitely get him in the fold if it's expedient to do so. It might reap HUGE rewards down the line.

The free version, you choose a team, choose how many rounds, and click on the player you want when the big light goes from red to green. At the end of a round, it refreshes and you start with the next round.

The paid version ($5.99/yr) allows you to make trades and also lets you restructure your salary cap if you're into that.
