This is a good choice. If someone does outbid us for Marshall, we get their second-rounder and, at that level, his salary should be affordable if we opt to keep him. Nice fallback. I wonder what CJ's tender is going to be since he is an RFA too I understand? 2nd or 3rd?
I miss the old Mile High Stadium.

I would assume CJ is tendered at a second round level. There really is no third round RFA tender - the options are first round, second round and original draft round. If Wikipedia is to be believed, as a UDFA, there is no "original level" so we would get no compensation if another team poached him:

Each player that signs a tender receives the one-year salary that corresponds to the tender level. Teams which choose not to match an offer on a player with a low tender receive a draft pick corresponding to the round in which the player was originally drafted (except that the highest pick that can be surrendered for such a tender is a second-round pick). For example, a player who was originally drafted in the sixth round of the NFL Draft would force the team signing him to give his former team a sixth-round pick in the upcoming draft as compensation for his service. No compensation is required for an undrafted player on the lowest tender amount, so teams with valued undrafted RFAs are taking a notable risk by offering such tenders

I think Paxton Lynch makes me puke a little more than Kaepernick.

Then again, what do I know?

The Broncos will use a low-round tender on restricted free agent RB C.J. Anderson. Worth $1.671M for 2016.

Very interesting. So we still have the right to match whatever offer he is given but if we opt not to match we receive no compensation.

Well.. The Broncos would get a chance to match any offer, anyway. Putting a higher round tender would force the Broncos to pay CJ more money. If CJ doesn't garner much interest, then there is no need to increase his salary.

No doubt. He's been making less than 500k/yr and a second round tender would've brought him just under 2.4 million this year. While I'm sure he'll make more than 500k I don't think he'll get 2.4 million/yr or more.

I don't think that's right. There's no way he signed the tender already. I think Sportrac is using the word "signed" very loosely here.

Agreed. In the "Transactions" section of Spotrac the latest on Marshall is this. Assigned a tender does not mean he has re-signed. Not seeing that Marshall has signed anywhere else.

You guys may be right. It's possible he signed today as he was at the facilities for Peytons retirement. Guess we'll see in the next few days / weeks.

I hope you're right. But, for now, I can't verify that Marshall has re-signed. Nothing on Twitter or Facebook yet.

Right. And if you look at that Sportrac link and then pick CJ Anderson, it also says he "signed". They just announced what level tender he was getting about two hours ago, and CJ seemed surprised by it, based on his Twitter reaction. No way he signed anything.

Getting him isn't something I'm juiced up over, was just a thought. I'd much rather Denver retain as much of the defense as possible---and Oz too
