Since Fanspeak already adds in what they think our compensation picks will be and it's becoming clearer who we might be replacing, time to take my first crack at a Broncos mock draft. I used the CBS Big Board from Fanspeak that is their first post-combine mock.

Immediately, the Broncos hear from Kubiak's old team, the Houston Texans who offer to trade down from their #22 pick if we'll give them our first (#31) and 2nd (#32). I decided to try this and see if a stud OT might fall to us. They didn't.

So, at #22, the Chiefs came knocking. I agreed to send them #22 for their first (#28), 3rd (#28) and 4th (#28). There were two guys I almost took at #22 and they were both still there at #28. So I took one:

28: R1P28
RB EZEKIEL ELLIOTT
OHIO STATE

Incidentally, the Chiefs chose OG Vadal Alexander of LSU. I had no choice in the 2nd but I had three in the third so I used two to move up and snag the best TE in the draft:

69: R3P6
TE HUNTER HENRY
ARKANSAS

With the first compensation pick, I chose:

99: R3P36
DE SHAWN OAKMAN
BAYLOR

Assuming we cut Manning and keep Osweiler, we need to groom a backup with starting potential - one who can run bootlegs like Kubiak desires. His favorite receiver was also available.

127: R4P28
QB DAK PRESCOTT
MISSISSIPPI STATE

136: R4P37
WR DE'RUNNYA WILSON
MISSISSIPPI STATE

Finally, the remaining spots are to provide depth in the middle of the defense and the o-line to give us more options and perhaps find a special player like we found with Malik and Trevathan:

144: R5P5
ILB NICK VIGIL
UTAH STATE

219: R6P41
G JOE DAHL
WASHINGTON STATE

226: R7P7
S T.J. GREEN
CLEMSON

233: R7P14
ILB JOSH FORREST
KENTUCKY

251: R7P32
C MIKE MATTHEWS
TEXAS A&M

I didn't find the OT I craved so I am hoping Clady returns and stays healthy while finding a RT among the various choices we have left.
