Default Report: LAPD examining a knife found buried at O.J. Simpson's estate

O.J. Simpson has been back in the news lately thanks to a couple of television shows revisiting his 1995 murder trial. But a new and somewhat surprising development may keep his name in the headlines for many more days to come.

The LAPD is investigating a knife that was found buried at Simpson's estate, according to a report from TMZ. The knife was alleged to have been found by a construction worker several years ago, at an unspecified time before 1998 when the house was demolished.

So, why are we just hearing about this now?

TMZ reports that the construction worker handed the knife over to an off-duty police officer, who had decided to keep it for himself. It was only after the now-retired officer contacted a friend at the department to get a file number for the Nicole Brown Simpson/Ronald Goldman murder case -- one he planned to engrave on a frame for the knife he would hang in his home -- that those in charge were made aware of its existence.

This is reportedly a "top-secret" investigation, and the knife is being tested for hair, fingerprints and other biological evidence. Since Simpson was found not guilty in the original trial, he cannot be prosecuted again -- but the police may continue the investigation, as it's still considered to be an open case.

I doubt this changes the perception of his guilt one way or the other. But with a not guilty verdict its pretty meaningless at this point.

So this knife was allegedly buried in Simpson's back yard, and was discovered several years ago.. yet is just NOW coming to light?? This really seems like a very very odd story. You mean they didn't have metal detectors scouring the simpson estate for this knife? This guy finds a buried knife in the Simpson yard, and just keeps it a secret (although it wouldn't/can't change anything).

Now I'm not some "simpson defender".. at all. That boy is guilty as hell for a double homicide, but this sounds fishy in so many ways.

Can we get a comment from a Kardashian?
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

Those who don't have room in their yards due to all of the bodies that they've already buried.

I smelled bs on this from the moment I heard of it. The OJ case becomes a big tv event and, all the sudden a knife magically appears? Sorry, not buying.

I'm defiantly skeptical as well, but there is a possibility that this could be legit if you believe the supposed excuse of the unknown law enforcement officer who supposedly had this knife. According to what I just saw on the local news, The LA Chief of Police said this officer was off duty when a construction worker brought him the gun. He thought that because OJ was acquitted, the case was close & it therefore didn't matter anymore.
