I'd like to know more about the context of these emails, when they happened, etc before passing judgment.

My initial thoughts are that he should not lose his job...but I am also not surprised he is losing his job.

I’ve just heard that on the radio.
I don’t think the guy is who those emails may portray him as, but at the end of the day it was wrong.
Not sure why that’s being brought out to light. Is he running for office?
    That’s disturbing...

    Default Gruden Resigns over emails

Breaking News: The NFL coach Jon Gruden used misogynistic and homophobic language for years, a review of his emails shows. He denounced the emergence of women referees, the drafting of a gay player and the tolerance of protests during the national anthem.
    What a joke.

Evidence that feelings > results. Initial take.

Nuanced take: everyone is deathly afraid of cancel power. The pendulum has swung far into risk-aversion in terms of social approval-seeking. There are no independent thinkers who can withstand the groupthink oppression of social media. All messages are one message. This is where we are as a society.

Here's a close-to-home example. Today I wanted to make a yo mamma joke with Strafen, who I don't know as well since he's new but he seems like he's willing to mix it up, but I held off. But there is a subtle, yet real, power in offending people in a way that comes from a kind heart. It draws people together if they don't get butthurt about it.

This is kind of the vibe I get about Gruden. He has a good heart but someone decided to strip all context and go for the kill.

Well, societies evolve, and generally away from tradition. That's not a bad thing in itself. I'm just curious whose Cheerios he pissed in.

Yeah, this is outright P&R given the subject matter, but it's very NFL related. It's almost inseparable. Should be a P&R discussion, that's where this *has* to go.

Another victim of the woke culture. I’m glad he’s stepping down so those morons are happy.
They’re into ruining people’s lives and they won’t stop until they destroy those who go against their narrative. Not surmise to anyone the New York Times was behind the investigation that pursuit the emails and got them into their possession.
