Default Ed Hochuli under investigation for possible comments to Cam Newton

Apparently Ed said Cam wasnt old enough to get "calls" in a game.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Referee Ed Hochuli could be subject to discipline if it is proved that he told Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton he "wasn't old enough" to get a call in Sunday's 27-22 victory over the New Orleans Saints.

"We would do an investigation, see if anybody was miked in the area, and we've had situations in the past where an official said something inappropriate to a player and we've disciplined them," NFL vice president of officiating Dean Blandino told the NFL Network on Monday. "So there is a process in place, and we would have to go through that process to see if we could pick up what was actually said."

So it's happened in the past, never heard about it, but now we get to hear about it....Cam's guys leaking info?

From what I read, strong denials anything was said from Hochuli.

Going to fully enjoy refs calling ticky tac calls on Newton now. All of these refs are going to view Cam as a snitch.

Even if Ed did say it, which I'm pretty skeptical about, Cam tattling to the press wasn't a smart move.

Although I'm not sure Hochuli has much credibility. I heard he stole a laptop and lied about it.

It seems sophomoric on the surface.

Default Cam: Hochuli said 'you're not old enough' to get call

Cam Newton doesn't understand why the Saints weren't called for a personal foul on a potential late hit during the Panthers' 27-22 win Sunday. And he really doesn't understand the explanation he got from official Ed Hochuli after the play.

"The response I got was: 'Cam you're not old enough to get that call.' . . . I didn't think you had to have seniority to get a personal foul or anything like that," Newton said in his post-game press conference.

Newton added that he was "ticked off" at the explanation. He went on to say that everyone has to be accountable, and pointed out that a personal foul on a similar play was called in favor of Saints quarterback Luke McCown earlier in the game.

No, I just think a veteran ref wouldn't be stupid enough to say that even if it were actually true.

And the NFLPA is going to raise a stink every time Cam gets touched and it isn't called. Then the NAACP gets involved. Cam gets a phone call from the president. No one's happy unless Ed gets life in prison without parole.

Why would you believe someone like him? You know, an Auburn Tiger.

I do too, but I don't care. I'm sure refs have different ways of telling players to get over themselves. I don't believe Hochuli would intentionally ignore a personal foul.

However, I've always thought Cam presented himself like an entitled punk and I assume this is more of the same.
