Pay him more than 11 million dollars, waste his time for three games trying to fit him into a system that doesn't play to his strengths instead of making a few changes to utilize the personnel you have, then trade him for nothing more than a 6th round pick....

Wow, Carolina made out, they get him for a 6th rounder and only pay him less than a million this year. Crazy. This is high level stupidity by the Bears, just dumb.

They're idiots. Bears fans have to be furious. I'm surprised none have come here to give their condolences for having that shit here for three years.

I have a friend who is a bears fan and he loves the moves. He wants them to slash all their highly paid veterans and rebuild. And I can't say I disagree to much with that stance. They aren't even close to a title the way they are currently built. Why not blow it up and start over?

He's certainly worth the $823,000 (and the 6th rounder) that Carolina is paying him.

I remember really wanting Allen in FA but then Ware became available. I'd say that worked out for the best

I completely agree with getting rid of all the high priced players and getting younger, but once you've already paid the guy and cannot recoup any of that money, why send him packing for nothing more than a 6th rounder? If all I could get it a sixth after I sunk 11 million into someone I'd pass.

I would say their reasoning is that they wanted to at least give it a shot at being competitive this year, and now that it's obvious that that isn't going to happen, they have just decided to slash talent and tank. I guess they would rather take any pick they could get for Allen then keep him on the payroll.

They already paid him 11 million dollars, what's 800k at that point?

Because if the goal is to tank then you want to shed talent.

If that's their goal they should all be immediately fired and the fans should be at the owner's office protesting. This isn't the NBA, it's supposed to be a legitimate sport.

They also gave up a 6th. I'm not sure how Carolina drafts, but that guy could be a Malik Jackson.

Eh. I don't mind it to be honest. Its probably a sound strategy if your team is in the shape they are in.

I don't mind it so much, but I wonder how safe that strategy is if you're the coach. How often is the same coach there for the build up process that was there for the tear down?

This is probably a decision being made above Fox's head. But hey, that's where he really wanted to be apparently!
