Default Bears to sign Unrein after release from Chargers

Defensive tackle Mitch Unrein won’t be without a job for long after having his contract terminated by the San Diego Chargers on Thursday.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Unrein is flying to Chicago and is expected to sign with the Chicago Bears.

Always had a soft spot for Unrein but Fox can EAD. I hope he fails miserably and is fired in disgrace.

Default Bears sign DL Mitch Unrein, waive Lavar Edwards

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The Chicago Bears signed veteran defensive tackle Mitch Unrein and waived defensive lineman Lavar Edwards, the team announced on Friday.

Unrein played five seasons (2010-14) in Denver under John Fox before jumping to San Diego in the offseason. The Chargers cut Unrein on Thursday.

“He was a guy we looked at in free agency, were involved with,” Fox said. “He ended up going to San Diego. They released him and we signed him. He’s kind of the football character we’re looking for. I think he can contribute in some other areas on fourth down. We felt like it was a move that could make us better.”

I always like Unrein not that he was anything special but he was hard nosed kid that was good situational player.

Chicago is a top candidate for the first round draft pick in 2016. Mainly because Fox is a clown.
As for Unrien, hope he does well but cutler , fox and gase can all go to hell

Default Bears need something better than John Fox's idea of a competitive advantage

This article was written yesterday. Today it was stated that Cutler would not play against Seattle on Sunday. Wow, is the writer of this article ripping on Fox

Heading into what might become a record disaster for the NFL’s oldest franchise, Bears coach John Fox has not ruled out the possibility of Jay Cutler’s throwing a game-changing interception for a third straight week.

Cutler, remember, left last week's game because of a hamstring injury and didn't practice Wednesday. He's not expected to play the next two weeks.

No matter. Fox hasn't ruled Cutler out of Sunday's game against the Seahawks.

Fox continues to play his silly, secretive injury game, believing it’s a competitive advantage.

This, mind you, in the wake of Fox’s team giving up 48 points.

I saw that and it was a really shitty article. All that "Hey John, why don't you..." - ultra-annoying. Who the hell is this guy?

Love the Fox bashing and all but that piece/author was bad.

Reeves and Kubiak both took their post-Broncos teams to the playoffs; I don't see Fox doing that. The only reason he ever made the playoffs is because he went 3-0 in coin tosses in 2003 and 2011, then his GM hired PFM as QB. The only time I want to be around John Fox is when he's playing roulette.

As for Unrein, he's a versatile, hardworking lunchpail guy, so I wish him well, but never cared for his play except as a sub: Too much DT to be a great DE; too much DE to be a great DT. He's great to have when thin at both, or as a 5th lineman to leave out there while shuffling a different tired player every series, but not (IMHO) a playmaker.

Oh, valid point. I thought you meant all starters, you should take the time to be more descriptive, don't be shy. Jaded
