How do you credit the Saints'/Ryan's D when it was the QB letting the ball slip out of his hand that wrecked the play

Rob Ryan's defense often fail to make it to the top half of the league's rankings. He is relevant because of his last name.
The application of the catch rule is so inconsistent and confusing.
How is that a TD for Detroit but the Eifert was not? lmao Crazy
The entire issue becomes a two part mind**** of what a football move is and why on earth a WR has to be perfect on the way to the ground. Making it worse, to paraphrase Marvin Lewis, who is pretty damn respected on the rules committee, it boils down to an interpretation of those rules and the NFL consistently enforces it. In other words, to the best of my knowledge, this whole thing is a semantics laden nightmare.
The Sanders non-catch at the end of regulation was a perfect example of why we get so frustrated. Catch or no catch? I've seen that called both ways. In bounds or out of bounds? I've seen that called both ways. Downed by contact? I've seen that called both ways. So, that's three ways on one pass that officials can tell us the sky is blue or the sky is gray and who the **** can tell after these hair-splitters get involved?
I miss the old Mile High Stadium.
