I'll have to dig up my high school photo from 89'. It's a heavy metal mullet though, not a redneck mullet. The only way you can differentiate between the 2 is attire.

Rednecks are from the southeast. Places like Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, the Carolinas. There are cowboys in Texas but I wouldn't call them rednecks.

Umm, I'm something of an expert on this topic tyvm. Maybe if you stay in Austin or the Dallas suburbs that's correct. But otherwise you are WAY off. However - you are accurate that it does get more extreme as you travel south east.
