Thread: Utah girls tackle player gets a surprise from her biggest fan – Peyton Manning

For most 13-year-olds, appearing on national television would be the thrill of a lifetime.

But after being featured in an ESPN Outside the Lines story, the fun was just beginning for Gracie Merrill of West Jordan, Utah.

Earlier this month, Gracie spoke on camera about playing and competing among her peers as part of the Utah Girls Tackle Football League, believed to be the first all-girls tackle football league in the United States. Decked out in a Peyton Manning Denver Broncos No. 18 jersey, Gracie discussed how she has always loved football and never thought she’d get the chance to play it.

“It was a great experience,” Gracie said about being on TV. “I was so happy to be on the show.”
