Default NFL might take closer look at gloves currently being used

Odell Beckham Jr.'s mindboggling one-handed catch last year propelled him into the national spotlight. But that play also might have put the gloves he and a majority of other NFL receivers wear into question.

Atlanta Falcons president and competition committee chairman Rich McKay told the Los Angeles Times that the league might want to take a closer look at the gloves.

"I think it's time to go back and look at the gloves and see if, with what's going on here with sports science in the past 10 years, if there isn't too much of an advantage being gained," McKay said.

Hall of Fame wideout Tim Brown said Beckham's play would never happened without the gloves currently used in the game.

Makes sense. With the NFL changing their procedures after deflategate it would only be natural that they look at some of the other things in the league.

Every player in the League has access to these kind of gloves so it's not like it's some kind of competive advantage that isn't afforded to all players.

True, but it does kinda take some of the skill needed out of the game. I'm not necessarily saying they should be banned, but I can see the argument for it.

I understand that it's available to all receivers, but so was stickum.

It's a competitive advantage against the DB's who have to face them.

You mean the same defensive backs who can also wear the gloves?

This is ridiculous. And it has nothing to do with the cheating scumbags in New England.

So should WRs and DBs both be allowed to wear stickum then?

WR job is to catch the ball. DB job is to knock it away. Hard to knock it away when it's stuck like glue.
