Default Redskins plan to start Kirk Cousins for week 1

    http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/13...sins-qb-week-1

The Redskins are planning on starting Kirk Cousins at quarterback in their regular-season opener against the Dolphins, sources told ESPN's Dianna Russini.Cousins, who has started nine games over his first three seasons in the NFL, would get the starting nod over Robert Griffin III, who is awaiting clearance to play after suffering concussionlike symptoms Aug. 20 in a preseason game.

Cousins, 27, is expected to start Saturday night's preseason game against theRavens. The 27-year-old has been sharp in his first two preseason appearances, completing 20 of 26 passes for 245 yards and a touchdown.

Griffin practiced with the Redskins this past week and initially was cleared by Dr. Robert N. Kurtzke, an independent neurologist, to play against the Ravens.

But after "further scrutiny" by Kurtzke and a team of doctors, Griffin instead will be sidelined for at least one more week.

Cousins or McCoy are an upgrade over RGIII.

**** RG3 good riddance. Most overrated overhyped player in recent memory.

RG3 can be effective in the right offense. A standard pro offense with several progressions in 2 seconds might not be it.

Front office and coaches wanting to move on from RG3 but owners resisting.

High-ranking Washington Redskins front office officials and coaches want to part ways with quarterback Robert Griffin III, but are meeting resistance from team ownership, according to team and league sources. The Redskins even have had trade conversations about Griffin with a handful of NFL teams, but have found no interest, and it remains unclear whether ownership would allow Washington to trade him, sources said.

It is becoming increasingly apparent that Griffin has lost his starting quarterback job, and depending on the events and conversations in the coming days, possibly his roster spot. Outside of ownership, there has been a groundswell of support from a strong segment of football people within the organization to change quarterbacks, but there is a question about whether they have the authority to part ways with Griffin.

Regardless of who it is, the FO, coaching staff, and owner need to work well together.

This was the owners draft pick. That cooperation may not happen as long as Snyder owns the team.

I'm betting that he's gonna be the owner longer than Gruden is the coach.

Don't understand why RGIII is such a hated player amongst fans.
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

Could be many things such as his inability to stay healthy, his lack of locker room leadership, and that he doesnt seem to be progressing as a QB who was drafted in the first round.

Just watching Griffin on the sideline makes me not like him. He doesn't handle himself well. Reminds me of all the pouty sideline shit we saw from Cam Newton a couple years ago. Griffin needs to get out of his own head and just play smart football. Unfortunately for him, in three years he's never been able to display the ability to throw a ball away, slide, or lay down and take a sack.

With RG3 out, Cousins looked even worse, he was good when he came in to spell RG3 but was horrible as a starter. Threw so many ints.
