I also hate how people think Wilson is an excellent QB and ignore the context of his work. With that being said, Wilson did inspire one of my favorite posts ever on this site where A patriots fan, I think WTE, was mouthing Buff about a Broncos loss. Buff, in typical form, told WTE that at least his team wasn't the one that had Russell Wilson dropping dimes on for an entire half.
Granted two years late the Patriots beat the 'Hawks in the SB, but that's besides the point.
I think I explained why I said that in fairly good detail. He's a better passer than a lot of guys in the league.
He has arm talent, he's accurate, has good mechanics, and by many accounts has a very high football IQ.
Those are all things to develop a great passer with.
He has much more to work with than other young QB's such as Newton, Kap, Griffen, or Dalton.
He is an efficient quarterback. That has good mechanics, nice touch, has played well under pressure, proven winner, makes plays with his legs, has no of field issues, works hard.
I don't even think his contract is earth shattering. He will get paid and the hawks got some good value for money.
Is he aaron Rodgers, no, but he is very good.
He is the perfect QB for what Seattle does.
We'll see how good he is when Seattle loses other talent because of his new contract. I'm sure I would like him if I met him in person but I feel the same about him as I do about Phil Simms, Doug Williams and Joe Montana.
I think when the time comes for him to carry a load that is commensurate with his contract, as well as start to do more on the field, we will look at him differently. With that being said, I think Seattle will be brutal this year, and the slide will be obvious by the time the following season concludes.
