Default Cardinals add likely first-ever female coach to a NFL team's staff

On Monday, the Arizona Cardinals did something that no other NFL team in the history of the league has done before. The Cardinals are believed to be the first team to add a female coach to their staff.

Jen Welter, 37, will join the Cardinals coaching staff for the summer. Welter will help coach the team's inside linebackers during training camp and the preseason. Welter's role isn't a long-term job, as she'll be a coaching intern during the summer, but it's still a likely NFL first and has the potential to lead to further opportunities.

"I really believe she'll have a great opportunity through this internship to open some doors," said Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians (via the team's website).

Click the link. She has lots of football coaching experience. And there are PLENTY of NFL coaches that haven't played the positions they coached. This story isn't really that big of a deal, other than the fact the Cardinals have a doctor on their coaching staff, which is kinda cool.

She is obviously there to get in the face of the first female referee should the Cards have a dispute with her. If a man yells and screams at a female ref, well, let's just say it's "bad optics".

Dr. Welter HAS played the sport. You didn't read the link and you haven't really read anything about her other than she's a woman...

Anyways, physical differences between men and women make it impossible for women to excel in the NFL. Women's bodies simply cannot handle the wear and tear that the sport takes at an NFL level. Dr. Welter played in women's leagues and actually got signed onto a men's indoor roster. She has also been part of a coaching staff for a male team.

Todd Haley is an example of a coach who did not play in college or the NFL. Most NFL coaches just played in college, and not even at big programs.

Doesn't matter if you believe their credentials or not...its the PERSPECTIVE of those credentials that makes all the difference. EVERYONE knows that women generally do NOT play football. Womens football leagues are very few and very far apart, and when you watch them its like watching jr high games (that isn't meant to be an insult, but purely an opinion on what I have seen). You take an athlete that is at the PINNACLE of the sport, at the top most level of which you can accomplish, and the most top athletes in the world..............its VERY hard to imagine them taking her 'coaching' seriously, period.

LOTS of woman have played basketball through college, how many have coached in the NBA? Why is that? Call it 'prejudice' all you want, but the fact stands that alpha males most likely will not accept a female coach as their knowledge base..... ESPECIALLY considering that the sport doesn't have any strong female competive leagues.

Further dilution and sissyfying of the NFL. it's a disgrace to me, I'm sorry.
