Brutal finish. Had outrights on Morikawa and Schauffle.
Good lord, Spieth is higher priced than Koepka and Dustin Johnson. I’m going to get sucked in again.
I didn't really have any Spieth last weekend and it felt kind of good to not be relying on him. Granted it backfired on me - but I might just fade again and let him prove his form is back for real.
Who else you liking? I couldn't help myself with some Luke Donald, Tyrell Hatton, Ian Poulter track specialist bets.
The “sucked in” is to DJ. Spieth might be a decent play, because he might only have to hit three drivers each round, which limits him spraying it all over. If he does spray it all over at Hilton Head, look out.
Yeah, all the short-hitting, super accurate guys are going to be popular again, even more so at Harbour Town. A weird pop for me last night was Nate Lashley, but one of the things I really weigh at Harbour Town and TPC is success at Pete Dye courses. He’s barely played any Pete Dye courses.
I can't decide if I should make a hedge DJ bet at 45:1 when he was the leader through 3 rounds last year -- or fade him completely because his form was terrible last week and his Sunday meltdown at RBC last year might give him PTSD at this course. Same dilemma on DK.
He just looked kind of lost last week. I’m not sure what to think. Has people actually talking about his career arc, and that’s never a good sign. But he’s 35 and athletic, he doesn’t look like a candidate for being done long before guys like Phil and Furyk. The other problem with analyzing DJ is he’s just emotionless, and I can’t tell if that’s good or bad in his case. For a golfer, I’d tend to think it was good.
And he’s so cheap this week. That’s just a nuts price for a Top 5 guy on the money list. Justin Rose was nuts at 9000 last week, and he’s 14th in the world right now. DJ is No. 5.
The same sort of goes for Koepka, but we at least know he’s still battling back from injury.
Definitely worried that ownership is going to be very condensed around everyone who showed form last week -- hard to know where to pivot.
Warming up to Rahm a bit as a pivot at the top - he played pretty well last week minus the putter.
I haven’t examined ownership much yet, but the industry people seem to think it’ll skew to those who played well, but ownership looked pretty low for a lot of players, pretty spread out initially on Monday. But that was pretty early. I pivoted too much last week, so may just play the guys I like this week and try not to overthink it.
I don’t know how DeChambeau’s new game fits Harbour Town. You can’t spray it at all here, and the design eliminates driver. Then again, who knows what crazy angles he can figure out here. The other three are great plays IMO.
I’m trying not to get sucked in by my boy Hideki.
