I've been burned by Berger ... I'm trying to get that out of my head because he's been playing pretty well.

Of course Rory is my No. 1 golfer by the stats ... of course. Won it before, loves the tournament, had a connection to Arnie. But he's 11800.

Been following the Rory and Molinari tilt and happy that I was busy last night and ended up sitting this week out... We're on to the Player's.

I didn’t even contemplate Molinari. Something’s been wrong with him, so no surprise on the injury. Rory ... thought all day on it, did not listen to some advice not to fade on a 20-max or higher. Didn’t ******* listen.

I think KISS is my general strategy this week. Ball strikers win on Pete Dye courses. Period. Strokes Gained: Approach, Driving Accuracy and Birdies or Better dudes.

    Pete Dye, so predictable.

You just used data driven insight into his course design!

True. I wish it was that easy.

Just for example, first two holes at TPC Sawgrass require, ideally, a cut with an iron to a jagged dogleg left fairway surrounded by bunkers and lined by thick tree groves and a wedge approach shot while the second tee shot requires a draw with a driver to a fairway that doglegs left and then a long iron to a second dogleg right and a more open green. Ball strikers for sure, but trouble everywhere.

In short, Pete Dye courses require every shot in the book and you can’t overpower the course like many PGA courses.

I like Morikawa and Hovland, Ryan Moore and EVR and I may gamble with Grillo. I won’t set my pool til late. Morikawa and Moore looked like chalk last night.
