My final instalment, pictures to follow.
I woke up before dawn and headed up to Boulder rez for a 10km run. I had wanted to do a 1/2 marathon but was advised against it due to the altitude - this was some sound advice!!! About 4 miles in, i felt pretty knackered lol, i was fine on the flat, but even the slightest incline really took it out of me.
I ran it in just over 49 minutes - which i was really pleased with, at the end, the dude who i was trying to chase down for the last 2 miles turned out to be a german, which i thought was quite weird.
Back to the palace of a motel to get changed and ordered an Uber - i got dropped off in town, saw some cops on segweys, which i thought was really cool. Then about Larimer st, i got one of those bike taxi's to the tailgate.
It took us a while to all meat up, eventually after a few beers, whisky and some Buck fast - a drink commonly consumed by homeless people and alcoholics in scotland we headed in. At the point Mastershake deserves an honourable mention for his additional consumption of all alcoholic beverages available. That dude is also seriously funny - i wish we could have had more time together, i reckon we could have made a baby.
The game experience was uneblievable - most of you will have been to Mile High, so i dont need to spend anytime describing it - but i can honestly say, it was ******* awesome! Our seats were also deceptively good and the banter between the crowd was hilarious (at least it seemed that way after some buck fast!) Spiker was giving some vikes fan some serious shit - it was hilarious, even the drinks vendor joined in giving them some abuse!
Game night was spent with Pudgey and Danny - two awesome dudes, we had a few beers and took a ride on a taxi bike - which was soooo funny, as this small dude was trying to cycle with about 600 lbs on the back, i know that does not sound too exciting, but it was a hilarious night. Then for some reason a doorman did not want to let me in - because i did not have a visa lol. I was even told i should have approached immigration on entry to request I.D - but that he would let me in "this once" - weird that my international travel document and ESTA was not enough to have adrink - idiot!
The night ended with Danny being horrendously racist and fattist.
I woke up at 0430 feeling like i was going to die (I dont normally drink more than 3 or 4 beers in one go - let alone liquor and all day) so i grabbed some gatorade (not really available in the UK) and drank it as fast as i could it was dribbling down me and everything, then i woke up a few hrs later feeling fine to meet pudge. Danny exchanged some gear with me and gave me a book on 1776 - which is totally amazing.
Once i was good to drive, off to the airport where i met spiker for one final hand job and a coffee.
And it was over.
I will be back, probably with the wife next time, hopefully in 2017. It would be ideal if Denver played in London in 2016 though!
I realise that last post was quite long, so i wanted to separate this.
The people that i met from this site are all really cool guys, and i want to thank then for putting up with me.
It was a great experience, made possible by this forum - especially spiker.
I wish i could have met Joe and Dog, but that damn Buffs game got in the way, and i would love to have had more time to have a few drinks with UR and Shake.
I briefly met Shank - who also seemed like a really funny dude. And Turf and Pola also made me feel really welcome (although i am not too sure they understood anything i was saying)
Rex in person, is a true gentleman - who'd have thunk it!
I am so pleased i made the effort, the experience was awesome and the people even better. Several people also messaged me to let me know they could not make it, which i thought was a nice touch - but i have no doubt i will have the chance to meat more of you in the future.
If anyone is in the UK - let me know, we can meat up and have a beer. Unless you are a ****, then i would rather we didn't.
Thanks Broncos Forums.
I wanted SO badly to tell you to blow off the CU game, but I knew that could be a great experience for you. Very disappointed we didn't get a chance to meet. It just wasn't a good weekend for me - other than Saturday night.
