Broncos receiver Demaryius Thomas may be absent from the team’s offseason workouts, but he’s not too far removed from the scene.

On Wednesday, before the start of the team’s organized team activities, fellow receiver Emmanuel Sanders and linebacker Von Miller FaceTimed with Thomas from his locker.

“Von was like, ‘I’m wearing your shoes today’ and I’m like, ‘I’m wearing your shirt today, just so you’re out there with us,” Sanders said. “I could tell he definitely misses being out here and he wants to be a part of this. Hopefully, he’ll be back soon.”

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — As the Denver Broncos reported for their first set of organized team activities this week, each player was given a new orange T-shirt with an important message written in bold white letters: Keep your feet.

It was a reminder that for these May practices, staying off the grass is the best way to avoid injuries.

So who was the first player on his backside in one of the first sets of full 11-on-11 team drills? Quarterback Peyton Manning, the one player who should never, ever hit the ground during a practice.

"I don't remember that happening," Manning said, his voice laced with sarcasm after practice.

"I've already gotten to Steve Boxer, the video guy. That thing has already been erased. It helps to be tight with your video guy."

Is this a shot at Fox? I read recently that Manning never respected Fox as a coach, though he liked him as a person. He supposedly has a lot of respect for Kubiak as a football mind.

Sanders also says that he doesn't think this is Manning's last season:

"I think he's got a lot left in the tank," Sanders said Wednesday after leaving the press podium following the team's first full, offseason practice. "He's wearing a glove and his spiral is back. He's throwing a good ball. You can tell that the glove is helping him. He didn't wear it this early last year. His arm is not a problem. His ball is accurate. I don't see anything that says this is his last year."
