What'd you think of the 10, 20, 30?
I don't normally run in the evenings but as today is a holiday I didn't want to get up early. Anyhow, I took a 4 mile jaunt down on Pontchartrain. I hadn't run quite thos way before down to the pumping station at the canal. Had to snap the gator warning photo. Sure enough I spotted two of the buggers a minute or so further down the trail. Good times!
Spoiler alert: Brooklyn, NY for this week's work
Feeling very blessed today. I ran from my hotel in Brooklyn to Manhattan via the Brooklyn Bridge. I'll be taking the rest of the inspection team across later this week so I had to scout it first. Views include the Manhattan skyline with the new World Trade Center, The Freedom Tower, in the middle and Lady Liberty to the left. I should be able to get a better photo when I take the team on the run as we're probably going to go in the afternoon, but here's a few for now.
Ran through New Orleans' French Quarter this morning, straight down Bourbon street actually. Nice little 3.4 mile jaunt starting and finishing on Frenchman St. in the Marigny. Avg pace 7:24/mile with a fast mile of 7:08.
I'll be headed back to New York on Friday and redoing the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridge runs this Saturday or Sunday.
Nice - Glad you revived this thread!!
I did a half marathon a few weeks ago - i did it in about 2 hours 20 mins - which is really slow, but i did it with my heart rate monitor and never let my heart rate go about 150.
I was still fresh at the end and no pain in the morning, but work has been so crazy recently i have not been able to find the time. I need to force myself to get out, even if it is just to get out for a quick half an hour.
I'm afraid that too much consecutive running might impede my weight gain, so I've been refraining.
Registered for a half marathon this morning. The race is 28 Feb through New Orleans mid city, uptown garden district, french quarter, marigny, and out to city park. I broke my rule about not paying to run, but it's a new era. After this will be the Tough Mudder, then I might consider stepping up to a full marathon. I wouldn't mind running the Marine Corps marathon in DC.
I'm probably getting back in the National Guard, so I have to lose some of my gut. I have to get in the habit of running again.
