The fastest I ever did it was 8.43, when I was 18.

I really want to get down to 9.00 by the end of the yearn

Pure ego trip, but for some reason it is important to me to beat a lot of the young ones.... Sad, I know !!

Believe me. I get it. When I was an instructor at the schoolhouse I volunteered to run the PT program for all the young guys for that exact reason.

Run was great, that bridge was no ******* joke. 52:07.

Davii do you think the 10K is the sweet spot for races?

I think it is easy enough to push yourself, but not enough to hurt yourself

That used to be the fitness test the Air Force used, 1.5m run. 10:00 is great, I'd be stoked to produce that result. It was about 11 years ago, I was motivated to beat this other captain in my unit who was a ropey turd, but a hardcore runner. I trained for several weeks and ended up running an 8:30, which I was proud of and which also humbled ropeturd.

I ran the Huey P. Long bridge run this morning. 5k on the bridge. Made the first page of finishers, 25:57 overall. A little slow, but it's all good, I enjoyed the run.

It was actually a bit of a lick out, not so much physically, more mentally, I just kept thinking about stopping!

Every run is a constant argument in my head about when I can/should stop.

What have you been doing for speed work?

Basic interval training round the track once a week. Plus - I have a minimum of a 10km run to work, sometimes i take the run in easy, then do some track work, sometimes i fartlek the run in.

I then cycle home - and alternate the following day
