The ones with the toes hanging out there I agree, they look ridiculous. However, the zero drop shoes that look normal, like the one Dave pictured above, are really getting a ton of sales the last few years as many feel they are a much more natural way of running. I don't know. I love the minimalist shoes, lighter, breath much better, and are easier to run in, but the fear of injuries bothers me.

I know what you mean, at the point I switched to barefoot, it wss because I was always injured, so I really had nothing to lose.

    They just worked for me.

    Ran my first marathon today.

At mile 17 my knees went. In a lot of pain right now.

I finished, but the last nine miles was a walk run a fair.

My training runs never took me over 14 miles and I have not did a long run in a few months.

    Idiot.

    Still, at least I finished.

Congratulations man. Ice that bad boy down and elevate it. Get some NSAIDS in you as well.

I'm still having issues with my foot from that half. I'm back to normal training with a few runs on the horizon, buy I still have the occasional pain in that foot.

Thanks dude, I'm a bit gutted about the time, but you can't legislate for injury.

I'm on a train on my way back to glasgow, and I am in bits, I feel sorry for the old lady next to me as I keep moaning and I stink lol

You took the train all disgusting?

    I wish I could've run with you.

You're absolutely right on the injury. I was not pleased with my time on the half as my training times were definitely faster, but it is what it is.

    You finished a marathon!

Googling now. Fly over here and run a marathon in New Orleans. February 2017. Do it.

I'm not sure if it's the same one, but my cousin did a marathon in New Orleans and loved it. Apparently it's a fun place to be.

All this talk of marathons and half marathons, I just want to say it's motivating what you two are able to do given your ages.

    Thanks? Lmao

It was not fitness, or age that got me to the finish line, it was pure grit.

A normal human may well have died from the pain in my knees.
