Default Owners approve PAT and 2 point conversion changes

The NFL has approved the competition committee's proposal to change the extra point or 2 point conversion.

The new rule also gives the defense a chance to score 2 points on returns.

Chip Kelly doesn't look so crazy now does he? Something tells me he knew this was coming when he signed Tebow.

And for the record, I LOVE this rule change. LONG, LONG overdue. Now 32 yarders (which XPs now become) are still more or less chip shots, but it won't be a 99+% automatic play any more at least.

Also love that you can score returning a 2 pt attempt. Probaby something that won't happen often, but it's awesome when it does at the HS and college levels.

Just saw on twitter that kickers are 91.6% on FG attempts of 32/33 yards over the last 10 seasons. If a team feels like they can convert on 2 point attempts half the time, I have a feeling you will see many more teams start attempting them.

Hate the change but it is what it is.

I don't really buy the logic that the extra point was too easy and therefore had to change. The whole strategy comes into play on deciding between a gimme 1 point vs. a contested 2 points.

It's going to be dumb when games start to get decided on missed extra points, making kickers more important when they should be less important.

I like the change as well. Not sure I buy the Chip Kelly thing, though. The idea that the Eagles put forth, I believe, moved the 2 point try to 1 yard line. THAT would have helped Tebow more. Not as easy to sneak it in from the 2. I do think he'll be out there for some wacky attempts, though.

Would rather they just made TDs 7 with no kick. If you want to go for 2 a point comes off the board.

Affects the Broncos though. Kicker one of the weakest positions on the team.

Kicking is a part of the game. Why should kickers be less important? And if your kicker sucks and costs you games with missed extra points, you can just go for 2 every time.

I think this new rule will add an exciting new level of strategy to the game. I can't wait to see how it unfolds.

Kicking is only grudgingly part of the game. I don't like heightening its importance personally.

Do you like the fact that teams may go for two more often and you will see less of kickers on the field, then?
