    My Dying Bride- Deeper Down

    An unfortunate journey
Through a bleak sea of loneliness
I carved through the waves of grief
In a black vastness of self doubt

I have never felt so alone
So pitiful and wretched and low
I'm tried by a terrible wind
The misery and the pains blow

Fill my vast sails of ruin
Steer me towards the bleak end
A horizon of purples and reds
The still waters of my welcome end

The clouds of grey come overhead
A storm will hunt me down
And rip the guts out of my body
    Then I would surely drown

    The unforgiving wind searches
And lashes me like a whip
    The self-pity overwhelms me
My heart sinks like a ship

Thrashing out at torment and pain
    The maddened sea engulfs me
I let myself be swallowed up
    The magnificent weight upon me

    Deeper I go, deeper down
Didn't think it could get any blacker
The cold bites, the pressure builds
I think I no longer matter

Can't tell if my eyes are open or closed
    The grieving waters swallow
The pain I'm in through my life of sin
    The Devil will doubtless follow

    When lovers die, friendships fade
    When kin all lie forgotten
The gates of agony spew forth
    Your memories, stinking and rotten

So deep now, I feel so numb
    I'm ravaged by utter loss
The guilt, the grief, the astounding pain
My body, they all will wash

    I hope I ne'er return to life
Oh, Christ, just let me go
Let death devour my simple soul
    Lets my misery grow

    Death- Spiritual Healing

Always blocking the doors to your mind
Escaping the reality that surrounds you
Using faith as an excuse to kill
A sick way of life is now revealed

All the prayers in the world can't help you now
A killer a taker of life is what you are

    Speak no more lies
    It's your turn to die

    Preach the good word
Speak no more, perpare to burn
    A justified torture?
    From this may others learn
The life you took a holy death, a grave mistake
No changing your mind, your life you should pay

    Practice what you preach
Your loved one is now deceased
    Knowledge is at our hands
    Never to understand

    Spiritual healing

    [Solos: Shuldiner, Murphy]

Blinded by the twisted ways you live
Kill for religion, will the Lord forgive?
    Idiocy has stricken you mind
A real-life hell you will find

White Lies- The Power and the Glory

What if I were to disobey
    Give you back the power
Would I be punished like a child?
    And left on my own

    Would you think me ungrateful
    And send me away?
If I couldn't make you happy

    I was empty handed leaving
As I was when I came
    Tip-toeing through the rubble
    And running through the flames

    I was empty handed leaving
As I was when I came
    Tip-toeing through the rubble
    And running through the flames

    I was empty handed leaving
As I was when I came
    Tip-toeing through the rubble
    And running through the flames

    I was empty handed leaving
As I was when I came
    Tip-toeing through the rubble
    And running through the flames

What if I were to disobey
    Give you back the power
Would you be the one to turn you back
    And cast the first stone

Would you think me a coward
    Though I'd be the hero
    And come home a hero

I gave you back your power
I gave you back your glory
    Well, really, I hadn't noticed

    Until I had the power
    To give it all back
    Until I felt the glory
    When the buildings collapsed

I gave you back your power
I gave you back your glory
    Well, really, I hadn't noticed

    Until I had the power
    To give it all back
    Until I felt the glory
    When the buildings collapsed

    I was empty handed leaving
As I was when I came
    Tip-toeing through the rubble
    And running through the flames

    I was empty handed leaving

    No kidding. Dark stuff.

Here's one of my favorites to lighten the mood:

When I step into the light
    My arms are open wide
When I step into the light
    My eyes searching wildly
Would you not like to be
Sitting on top of the world with
    your legs hanging free
Would you not like to be ok, ok, ok?

When I'm walking by the water
Splish splash me and you takin a bath
When I'm walking by the water
    Come up through my toes
    To my ankles
    To my head
    To my soul
    And I'm blown away

When I'm walking by the water
Splish splash me and you takin a bath
When I'm walking by the water
    Come up through my toes
    To my ankles
    To my head
    To my soul
    And I'm blown away

I can't believe that we would
    lie in our graves
    Wondering if we had
    spent our living days well
I can't believe that we would
    lie in our graves
    Dreaming of things that we
    might have been

I realize many think Springsteen is a joke, but he's one of my favorite song writers.

“There were ghosts in the eyes of all the boys you sent away/ They haunt this dusty beach road/ In the skeleton frames of burned-out Chevrolets”
    From “Thunder Road”

“Sometimes it’s like someone took a knife, baby/ Edgy and dull/ And cut a six-inch valley/ Through the middle of my soul”
    From “I’m on Fire”

“Like a river that don’t know where it’s flowing/ I took a wrong turn and I just kept going”
    From “Hungry Heart”

“Remember all the movies, Terry, we’d go see?/ Trying to learn how to walk like heroes we thought we had to be/ And after all this time to find we’re just like all the rest/ Stranded in the park and forced to confess/ To hiding on the backstreets”
    From “Backstreets”

“Windows are for cheaters/ Chimneys for the poor/ Closets are for hangers/ Winners use the door”
    From “Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)”

“We learned more from a three-minute record than we ever learned in school”
    From “No Surrender”

“God have mercy on the man/ Who doubts what he’s sure of”
    From “Brilliant Disguise”

“Barefoot girl sitting on the hood of a Dodge/ Drinking warm beer in the soft summer rain”
    From “Jungleland”

“So you been broken and you been hurt?/ Show me somebody who ain’t/ Yeah, I know I ain’t nobody’s bargain/ But hell, a little touch-up and a little paint…”
    From “Human Touch”

“Mama always told me not to look into the sights of the sun/ Oh, but mama/ That’s where the fun is…”
    From “Blinded by the Light”

“It’s a town full of losers/ And I’m pulling out of here to win”
    From “Thunder Road”

    For just a few.

Well, its no secret that i battle depression. However, i am not always depressed but certainly can appreciate music that reflects what i feel at times as music has always been my outlet in terms of anger, sadness, or even happiness. I could post the lyrics to Icono Pop's "i Love it" but the lyrics dont really stand out to me. lmao

    One of my favorites.

My daddy told me, lookin' back
The best friend you'll have is a railroad track
So when I was 13 said, I'm rollin' my own,
And I'm leavin' Missouri and I'm never comin' home

And I'm lost, and I'm lost
I'm lost at the bottom of the world
I'm handcuffed to the bishop and the barbershop liar
I'm lost at the bottom of the world

Satchel Puddin' and Lord God Mose
Sitting by the fire with a busted nose
That fresh egg yeller is too damn rare
But the white part is perfect for slickin' down your hair

And I'm lost, and I'm lost
I'm lost at the bottom of the world
I'm handcuffed to the bishop and the barbershop liar
I'm lost at the bottom of the world

    Blackjack Ruby and Nimrod Cain
The moon's the color of a coffee stain
Jesse Frank and Birdy Joe Hoaks
But who is the king of all these folks?

And I'm lost, and I'm lost
I'm lost at the bottom of the world
I'm handcuffed to the bishop and the barbershop liar
I'm lost at the bottom of the world

Well I dined last night with Scarface Ron
On telapia fish cakes and fried black swan
    Razorweed onion and peacock squirell
And I dreamed all night about a beautiful girl

And I'm lost, and I'm lost
I'm lost at the bottom of the world
I'm handcuffed to the bishop and the barbershop liar
I'm lost at the bottom of the world

Well, god's green hair is where I slept last
He balanced a diamond on a blade of grass
Now I woke me up with a cardinal bird
And when I wanna talk he hangs on every word

And I'm lost, and I'm lost
I'm lost at the bottom of the world
I'm handcuffed to the bishop and the barbershop liar
I'm lost at the bottom of the world

Arlo Guthrie's City of New Orleans always puts me in a great mood.

Riding on the City of New Orleans
    Illinois Central Monday morning rail
Fifteen cars and fifteen restless riders
Three conductors and twenty-five sacks of mail

All along the southbound odyssey the train pulls out at Kankakee
And rolls along past houses, farms and fields
Passin' trains that have no names and freight yards full of old black men
And the graveyards of the rusted automobiles

Good morning America how are you?
See, don't you know me I'm your native son
I'm the train they call The City of New Orleans
And I'll be gone five hundred miles when the day is done

Dealin' card games with the old men in the club car
Penny a point ain't no one keepin' score
Pass the paper bag that holds the bottle
Feel the wheels rumblin' 'neath the floor

And the sons of pullman porters and the sons of engineers
Ride their father's magic carpets made of steel
Mothers with their babes asleep are rockin' to the gentle beat
And the rhythm of the rails is all they feel

Good morning America how are you?
See, don't you know me I'm your native son
I'm the train they call The City of New Orleans
I'll be gone five hundred miles when the day is done

Nighttime on The City of New Orleans
    Changing cars in Memphis, Tennessee
Half way home, we'll be there by morning
Through the Mississippi darkness rolling down to the sea

But all the towns and people seem to fade into a bad dream
And the steel rails still ain't heard the news
The conductor sings his song again, the passengers will please refrain
This train's got the disappearing railroad blues

    Goodnight America, how are ya?
See, don't you know me I'm your native son
I'm the train they call The City of New Orleans
I'll be gone five hundred miles when the day is done

I'll just go with lyrics from The Hold Steady since i've been listening to em a lot recently.

The Hold Steady - Stevie Nix

You came into the party with a long black shawl
And the guys from the front lawn were making jokes about the white swan
Some nights we just need to get touched and rub up against something plush
Some nights it's just a crush
Yeah, and some nights it's blood lust

She said we might use you later on
Meet me right back here around dawn

You came into the ER drinking gin from a jam jar
And the nurse is making jokes about the ER being like an after bar
You know you're weak and effete and I'm coming up from the streets
You're up in your loft getting soft
And I'm coming up the stairs and I'm coming from the streets

She said I love the guys you can't trust
    Meet me here about dusk

    I was half dead
    Then I got born again
I got lost in all the lights
But it was okay in the end
And when we hit the twin cities
I didn't know that much about it
    I knew Mary Tyler Moore
    And I knew Profane Existence

    I was keyed up
Our keys jangled in the stalls
They counted money in the motels
They mostly sold it in the malls
And the carpet at the Thunderbird
Has a burn for every cowboy that got fenced in

She said you remind me of Rod Stewart when he was young
You've got passion and you think that you're sexy
And all the punks think that you're dumb
The guys around the lockers got a story about the stomach pump
And the guys behind the theater
Found a body in the garbage dump

She got screwed up by religion
She got screwed by soccer players
She got high for the first time at the camps down by the banks of the Mississippi River
    Lord, to be seventeen forever

And she got confused about the truth
And she came to in a confession
She got high for the last time in the camps down by the banks of the river
    Lord, to be thirty-three forever

And she got screwed up by her vision
It was scary when she saw him
She didn't tell a single person about the camps on the banks of the Mississippi River
    Lord, to be seventeen forever

She got strung out on the scene
And she got scared when it got druggy
The way the whispers bit like fangs in the last hour of the party
    Lord, to be thirty-three forever

The Hold Steady - How a Resurrection Really Feels

    Her parents named her Halleluiah
The kids they called her Holly
And if she scared you then she's sorry
She's been stranded at these parties
    These parties they start lovely
But they get druggy and they get ugly and they get bloody

    The priest just kinda laughed
    The deacon caught a draft
She crashed into the Easter mass
With her hair done up in broken glass
She was limping left on broken heels
When she said, "Father, can I tell your congregation how a resurrection really feels?"

    Holly was a hoodrat
And now you finally know that
And she's been disappeared for years
    Today she finally came back

    St. Louis had enslaved me
I guess Santa Ana saved me
And St. Peter had me on the queue
The St. Paul Saints they waved me through
And I was all wrapped up in some video booth
When I heard her say "I love you too"

She said I've laid beneath my lovers
    But I've never gotten laid
    Some nights she felt protected
    Some nights she felt afraid
She spent half last winter just trying to get paid
    From some guy she'd originally
    Thought to be her savior

They wrote her name in magic marks
On stop signs and subway cars
They got a mural up on East 13th that said
    "Halleluiah, rest in peace"
    Halleluiah was a hoodrat
And now you finally know that
    She's been disappeared for years
    Today she finally came back

Walk on back, walk on back

She said don't turn me on again
I'll probably just go and get myself all gone again
    Don't turn me on again
    I'll probably just go and
Go and get myself all gone again
So don't turn me on again
I'll probably just go and go and get myself all gone again
    Halleluiah was a sexy mess
And she looked strung out but experienced
Yeah, so we all got kind of curious

    Walk on back... [repeated]

The Hold Steady - Stuck Between Stations

There are nights when I think that Sal Paradise was right
Boys and girls in America, they have such a sad time together
Sucking off each other at the demonstrations, making sure their makeup's straight
Crushing one another with colossal expectations, dependent, undisciplined, sleeping late

She was a really cool kisser and she wasn't all that strict of a Christian
She was a damn good dancer but she wasn't all that great of a girlfriend
He likes the warm feeling but he's tired of all the dehydration
Most nights are crystal clear but tonight it's like he's stuck between stations

    On the radio

The Devil and John Berryman, they took a walk together
And they ended up on Washington talking to the river
He said, "I've surrounded myself with doctors and deep thinkers
Their big heads and soft bodies make for lousy lovers"

There was that night that we thought John Berryman could fly
But he didn't, so he died
She said "You're pretty good with words, but words won't save your life"
And they didn't, so he died

Yeah, he was drunk and exhausted, he was critically acclaimed and respected
He loved the Golden Gophers but he hated all the drawn-out winters
He likes the warm feeling but he's tired of all the dehydration
Most nights were kind of fuzzy but that last night he had total retention

    Yeah, these Twin City kisses
They sound like clicks and hisses
We all come down and drowned
    In the Mississippi River

We drink and we dry up and now we crumble into dust
We get wet and we corrode and now we're covered up in rust
We drink and we dry up and now we crumble into dust
We get wet and we corrode and now we're covered up in rust

She was a really cool kisser and she wasn't all that strict of a Christian
She was a damn good dancer but she wasn't all that great of a girlfriend
He likes the warm feeling but he's tired of all the dehydration
Most nights are crystal clear but tonight it's like he's stuck between stations

    These Twin City kisses
They sound like clicks and hisses
We all come down and drowned

The Hold Steady - Don't Let Me Explode

He said what about Los Angeles?
She said we never really made it that far west
We scored big in Denver and thought it might be best
To go hang around in the upper midwest

He said what about New Orleans?
She said I don't think you understand what that means
All those hangers-on, those girls lifting up their shirts when the cameras come on
We were trying to stay away from those kind of scenes

And we didn't go to Dallas
'Cause Jackie Onassis said that it ain't safe for Catholics yet
Think about what they pulled on Kennedy and then think about his security
Then think about what they might try to pull on you and me

Saint Barbara, I'm calling your name
    Don't let me blow up
    We'll hook it all up
I guess there's fields of speed where there's fields of grain

Saint Barbara, don't let me explode
I can feel the whole scene
    Starting to corrode
When we're fooling around on the frontage roads

He asked what happened to Charlemagne
She just smiled all polite-like and said something vague
She said Charlemagne got caught up in some complicated things
Then she wiped at her nose and she winked

    Also, the most inspirational song:

The Mountain Goats - The Best Ever Death Metal Band In Denton

the best ever death metal band out of denton
were a couple of guys, who'd been friends since grade school.
one was named cyrus, and the other was jeff.
and they practiced twice a week in jeff's bedroom.

the best ever death metal band out of denton
    never settled on a name.
but the top three contenders, after weeks of debate,
were satan's fingers, and the killers, and the hospital bombers.

jeff and cyrus believed in their hearts they were headed
for stage lights and leer jets, and fortune and fame.
so in script that made prominent use of a pentagram,
they stenciled their drumheads and guitars with their names.

this was how cyrus got sent to the school
where they told him he'd never be famous.
    and this was why jeff,
in the letters he'd write to his friend,
helped develop a plan to get even.
when you punish a person for dreaming his dream,
don't expect him to thank or forgive you.
the best ever death metal band out of denton
will in time both outpace and outlive you.
    hail satan!
    hail satan tonight!
    hail satan!
    hail hail!

Nah!! I'ma evolve continue to change
It take brains, balls and backbones to get it on
and keep it on, we keepin it movin, to each his own
    Speech don't failllll me now
Dedicated to the enemies and friends that hold me down

Above the rest, accept no less
Go ahead, check the game, be my guest
Somethin brand new and heavy to get off my chest
Win time after time 'til there ain't none left
Hardhat, punch the clock, back to work
I'm bigger, stronger, faster, built to hurt

What do you believe in? I believe in
seizin the moment, livin and dyin to spit with a vengeance
Here for redemption - been around forever
Y'all cats were just too blind to listen

    MULTIPLY- Xzibit
    --------------------

It's been a long time, been a long time comin
Looks like the death of me now
But you know, there's no turning back now
This is what makes me - this is what I am

You can hate me now.. but I won't stop now..
Cause I can't stop now.. you can hate me now..
But I won't stop now.. cause I can't stop now..
You can hate me now.. you can hate me NOWWWW..

You wanna hate me then hate me; what can I do
but keep gettin money, funny I was just like you
I had to hustle hard never give up, until I made it
Now y'all sayin that's a clever nigga, nuttin to play with
Hate on me, I blew but I'm the same ol G
People warn me, when you're on top there's envy
Took my niggas out the hood, but you doubt on us
Sayin we left the hood but can't get it out of us
My bad, should I step out my shoes, give 'em to you?
Here's my cars and my house, you can live in that too
Criticize when I flow for the streets, hate my dress code
Gucci this, Fendi that, what you expect hoe?
Nickname Esco', took this game to its threshold
Best flow I bet the whole U.S. know
Try to make it like you the realest, but who the illest?
Think we all know the answer to that, cause niggas feel this right

You think I'ma come this far, and let you niggas stop me now?
I hate you too!! (Do it now!)

    NAS- HATE ME NOW

Some truly deep lyrics from Atmosphere. The ending will give you chills.

"He's got a mind like a sewer and a heart like a fridge. He stands to be insulted and he pays for the privilege."
    - Elvis Costello, "Man Out Of Time"

"I used to be disgusted. Now I try to be amused."
    - Elvis Costello, "Angels Wanna Wear My Red Shoes"

"I remember what she said to me. How she swore that it never would end.
I remember how she held me oh so tight. Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then."
    - Bob Seger, "Against The Wind"

"Well, I'm up to my neck in the crumbling wreckage of 'All That I Wanted From Life'
When I looked for respect, all I got was neglect
Though I swallowed the line as a sign of the times
But dealing a jack from the back of the pack they said 'You lose again'
Oh, I said 'who needs it?'

Well, don't get me wrong, now I tried to get on with the jokers that got in my way
And I put on a smile and I tried all the while to be straight.
But they just wanted more all the time and I'm sure that you know what I mean when I say
That I'm sick of the touch and there's only so much you can take."
    - Al Stewart, "If It Doesn't Come Naturally, Leave It"
I miss the old Mile High Stadium.
