Default George Karl closing in on Kings job

Only a dramatic and unexpected collapse in the final stage of negotiations can prevent George Karl from becoming the next coach of the Sacramento Kings, according to league sources.

Although the Kings have yet to formally announce a done deal with Karl, sources told ESPN.com on Tuesday that the organization is already operating under the premise that Karl will take over the team after the All-Star break.

The parties, sources said, were still working Tuesday on the finer deal points of an expected four-year contract that will formally establish Karl, an ESPN analyst, as Tyrone Corbin's successor and Sacramento's third coach of the season starting next week.

George Karl expected to take over Kings after the All-Star break, per @Chris_Broussard and @ESPNSteinLine. Kings now have one new fan.

This is odd coming from you, MO. Karl consistently had Denver in the playoffs, and look at them now. Aren't you the one berating Broncos fans for wanting to get rid of guys who have led us to the playoffs over the last 4 years?

I think it's a great hire by the Kings. What else were they going to do?

Every team in the league has a better coach than the Nuggets. He is a laughing stock. That said - I still don't think they were wrong to move on from Karl. They just made a horrendous replacement hire.

Shaw is worse than mediocre. How many times had he interviewed for a HC position before the Nuggets hired him????? That should have been the Nuggets' managements first clue - but NO, they hired him. It is totally obvious that he has lost the locker room, but the result will be to start getting rid of players, rather than facing what the real problem is. IMO, the players have zero respect for Shaw. He has no problem with dissing the players in public, which he has done on many occasions.

In regards to the Nuggets firing Coach K - that is still being discussed nationally, and some still feel that was a major mistake.

If you can't see the massive difference between three division titles, three straight second-round appearances and an appearance in the Super Bowl in a 12-team NFL playoff vs. first round exits in a 16-team NBA playoff, I can't help you.

*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

What the Broncos have done in the last three years has only been accomplished by 7 teams in league history. What the Nuggets did under Karl? Yeah, not so much.

    It's a stupid comparison.

Not winning a championship has only been accomplished by 7 teams in league history?

So that's the only criteria we are allowed to discuss here? If so, I guess I'm done, because you can't argue with such bull-headed bullshit.

So MO, is your argument that the nuggets had the talent for deep playoff runs and Karl was the one holding them back? Because if so, I think you are severely overrating the talent of those teams.
