Default Your List of BEST Movie Remakes

To complement the worst thread. Guess I'll start with:

    Dredd (2012) > Judge Dredd (1995)

The Thing (1981) > The Thing From Another World (1951)

    Oceans 11 (2001) > Oceans 11 (1960)

    True Grit (2010) > True Grit (1969)

The Fly (1986) > The Fly (50's Version)

Good call on Let Me In. I was pretty sure it wouldn't be as good as the original but was pleasantly surprised. I still need to watch the original Departed, which I think was called Internal Affairs?

I liked the Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps remake of the original Wall Street. I'm probably in the minority thinking it was better.

That was a good movie, but I always thought it was more of a direct sequel? I liked Charlie Sheen's cameo in it.

The Maltese Falcon (1941) > The Maltese Falcon (1931)...though Ricardo Cortez really isn't half bad as Sam Spade. Still not Bogart....

Met Sam Jones at the Alamo Drafthouse here a few years ago for a screening of Flash Gordon. I guess after Flash Gordon when all his roles dried up he started doing freelance security for famous/powerful people in places like South America and Mexico. Kinda cool!
