    Default Johnny Floppyballs

Based on interviews with 20 Browns sources, they’ve concluded that Manziel engaged in a “year-long pattern that showed a lack of commitment and preparation, a failure to be ready when given a chance in his first start against Cincinnati and a continued commitment to nightlife, which affected his preparation and work while in the team facility.”

As one unnamed player told ESPN.com, Manziel’s rookie year was a “100 percent joke.”

Seven bloody hells, this wasn't shocking. Clearly, Johnny played on his amazing talent/skills in college and flat out made it look easy sometimes. But come on, who's surprised he is flopping on the professional level? If there weren't enough stories about his reluctance to value commitments and responsibilities over being a party bro and club hopper. I recall a story about him showing up late for the Manning QB Academy. Though he apologized, it was reported that he was hung over. Archie Manning straight up told him to leave the premises. Think about being told by ARCHIE FREAKING MANNING you're not welcome. How utterly embarrassing. Those silly Browns just have no skill or luck at drafting professional QBs.

The Browns are a joke, this is a team that lost their young, up-and-coming OC because a high ranking FO official was texting him during a game to bitch about his playcalling. This after firing their HC after one season.

My in-laws are Browns fans, they're used to this whirlpool of BS now.

I read somewhere he was a huge party animal back in high school, and that his dad tried everything he could to get him to stop drinking and partying.

No room in the last few decades anymore for the playboy, party-animal QB. Only way that works now is in individual sports (Mayweather).

Someone should have played him tape of Leinart's career. Can tell you second-hand Ryan Leaf did pretty much the same having some connections to him. Play that tape as well.

He also has the misfortune of coming in affluent, to take even more hunger out of him. He'd have to be the type to not give a shit about money and it's all about taking opponents out and proving everyone wrong. His autograph fiasco showed that's not the case.

Too bad. If he had Edelman's or Welker's short-guy drive to overcome stereotypes he just might be dangerous. He does have competitive fire on the field with some interesting skills.

Takes a certain type of guy to shun "the life" when you're a celebrity QB. Can't say I'd have been much better as an already rich and famous 20-something.

He needs a friend he trusts to bitch-slap him and let him know this is all gone in 3 years if he doesn't wise up.

Default Inside Manziel's rocky rookie season

BEREA, Ohio -- The name on the card that night in May seemed to draw as much anxiety as it did excitement.

    Johnny Manziel, Quarterback, Texas A&M.

The former Heisman Trophy winner had been passed over 21 times, prompting a text from Manziel to then-Browns quarterbacks coach Dowell Loggains that he wanted to "wreck this league" in Cleveland. The words were actually more R-rated, but the implication was clear.

Twitter erupted at the selection. A Cleveland radio host cheered and screamed openly on air. Manziel gave his "money" sign as he walked onstage to greet Roger Goodell.

By season's end, cheering had turned to frustration and anger as Manziel struggled mightily in almost six quarters as a starter, then was fined for being AWOL the final Saturday of the season. Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan resigned with two years left on his contract. Loggains was fired. The Browns openly discussed Manziel's viability as the franchise's quarterback at a wide-ranging postseason staff meeting about the roster. And at least a couple of Manziel's teammates were joking his text should have read "wreck this team."

Now the Browns point to 2015 with a talented but misguided quarterback who must repair the wreckage done in his own locker room.

It always amazes me when guys with so much talent just blow it all to party - why not work hard for 10 years and then party for the next 30
