Default Lane: Must be physical with Gronk

RENTON, Wash. -- Seattle Seahawks starting nickel cornerback Jeremy Lane paused for a moment Thursday when asked what makes New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski so good, because Lane disagrees.

"I actually don't think he's that good," Lane said. "He's OK. He does have a big body. But from what I've seen on tape, he doesn't like you putting your hands on him. So if we put our hands on him and shake him up a little bit, he won't catch that many balls."
    AND

"Yeah, but that's always our key every week, putting our hands on the receivers," Lane said. "It's definitely an issue with him from watching tape."

Yeah, NO ONE likes getting mugged all the way downfield; the LEAGUE dislikes it so much they banned it decades ago. And everyone knows that and doping's Seattles "championship" formula; the question's why the other 31 owners tolerate it by letting their hand-picked Commissioner give Seattle a free pass. Again I say: The Patriots pick peoples pockets, but the Seahawks leave them lying in a pool of their own blood after rifling their pockets for drug money. Still rooting for that mini-blackhole to consume the stadium and BOTH those career cheats; that's all Goodell's left me to support in good conscience.

You'll remember it after the SB, I have a feeling we'll hear it quite a bit. The announcers talking about this and then telling us, "Gronk just caught that on Lane", "Gronk just made Lane look dumb", "wonder what Lane thinks of Gronk now". Etc

Lane laying hands on Gronkowski is going to matter? LOL

He could throw his whole 190 lbs on Gronk's back and it would be like a fly landing on a T-Rex.

I'd like to see Chancellor on Gronk. That would be a fun matchup.

I don't think they really use him in one on one coverage, although I expect to see some downhill collisions between the two.

Yeah, dude's a small LB, not a big safety; he'd probably cover Gronk about as well as Ward (i.e. not very.) If the Seahawks actually COVERED people rather than just mugging them he might even be a liability, but that's true of most of their "elite" DBs and "coverage" LBs. Pump 'em full of 'roids and Ritalin so they can add size and strength without losing speed AS EVERY CLEAN ATHLETE DOES, then run every practice with pads over all legal areas till they learn where to aim so they can legally cripple opponents. Practicing with Hernandez may have been the best preparation Gronk could have for ths game.

Or torch meet tinder. Ward may have taken out Gronks knee in a previous game, but I believe Gronk lit him up pretty good in their last meeting. I still think Chancellor's just a bigger slower TJ Ward.
